What it does: March presents all kinds of fashion dilemmas. Is it too late in the season for sweaters? Will I look silly wearing my new spring blouse? Luckily, our beauty choices don’t require such important questions. And this new nail polish line is bright enough to beat any case of the end-of-winter blahs.
These polishes were inspired by the colours of South Beach, Miami. (On a trip there last year with P&G Beauty, it wasn’t so much the colours that I noticed but the craaaaazy party scene. Imagine your hotel’s pool turning into an all-day club, manned by a crew of über-tanned, thong-wearing hedonists. Our crew of pasty white, black-clad editors could not. have. stood. out. more.)
Anyway, back to the nail polish. The best part of this collection is that it includes several purple-based shades, which will be a big trend for spring: Done Out in Deco (a pale lilac), Overexposed in South Beach (a vibrant purple) and Miami Beet (red-violet). Of course, no trip to Miami would be complete without some Day-Glo brights thrown in. OPI on Collins Ave. is a fantastic red-orange, and Feelin’ Hot-Hot-Hot! is the perfect shade of flamingo pink.
More good news: OPI have formulated these without toluene, formaldehyde and DBP (dibutyl phthalate). Hurrah!
Best suited for: Getting in a warm-weather mood.
Priced at $9.95 each. Available at professional salons and spas across Canada.
