There’s lots of advice floating around on how to choose the perfect shade of red lipstick. Aside from the basics—skin with pink undertones looks best in cool, blue-reds, while those with yellow undertones can pull off warm reds—I’ve always found that you just need to experiment to find your best shade. Case in point: I might not have chosen this orangey-red shade for Taylor (shown here at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas), but somehow, it works. Perhaps it’s her flawless porcelain skin (look for a high-quality, luminizing matte foundation like Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation). Of course, her luxe lashes and neutral shadow are also the ideal counterparts to a bold lip. Stay away from a smoky eye, and instead build up the lash line with lots of black shadow and black liquid liner. A touch of white highlighter at the inner corners of the eyes completes the look.
