The best lip gloss ever.

Full disclosure: As an ex-beauty editor, I've collected A LOT of lip gloss over the years. Like, a couple of drawers of the stuff. And don't hate me, but I don't really wear any of it... no, not even my Chanel. The fact is that none of them measure up to this new gloss. I'm officially in love!

First of all, did you know lip gloss can actually be bad for you? Last year, I attended a talk by Aveda founder and eco-beauty expert Horst Rechelbacher (for the launch of his new organic line, Intelligent Nutrients, which I'll be posting about soon). He told our group that anytime we lick our lips, we're ingesting whatever we've put on them... which is icky enough in itself, except it gets worse. One of the fastest ways we absorb substances into our bloodstream is sublingually (under the tongue). So why mess around with products that contain potentially harmful mineral oils, petrolatum and even lead? I know I'm not taking any chances.

The problem with most organic glosses is that you just feel like they're inferior in some way, i.e. not moisturizing or long-lasting enough, or with weird sparkles, etc. Until today, which is when I busted out my new Josie Maran lip gloss in Daring. (Recognize the name? Josie is an ex-supermodel whose new organic makeup and skincare line just arrived  in Sephora stores. I met her a couple of months ago for the launch and was blown away by her gorgeousness. She's unreal.)

Anyway, Josie definitely knows what she's doing when it comes to lip glosses because this one is hands down, the best I've ever tried. (And I've tried A LOT of these puppies.) Not only is it organic and paraben- and petrochemical-free, it's also long-lasting and super-moisturizing—it goes on like a lip balm, not tacky or sticky at all. Daring is the perfect "your lips, only better" shade with a hint of shimmer, plus it has a delicious dessert-like taste (which I don't feel bad about licking off, obviously).

Priced at $29 each. Available at Sephora stores across Canada.
