Editor’s pick: Eminence Organics Citrus Exfoliating Wash

Post image for Editor’s pick: Eminence Organics Citrus Exfoliating Wash

I think cleansers are the most neglected beauty products around. Most of us focus solely on the ever-expanding army of topical lotions, creams and serums available, which promise to dramatically change our lives (or at least cure acne, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation). Is it any wonder that cleansers get overlooked? After all, they just wash down the drain—not stay on your face.

Personally, I’ve tested all kinds of cleansers over the years (both natural and otherwise): Dermalogica, SK-II, Cetaphil, Body Shop, Kiehl’s, NARS and Juice Beauty, to name a few. All were… adequate. But I never raved about anything until I discovered the Citrus Exfoliating Wash from Eminence Organics, a Hungarian line of handmade products with extremely high fruit content. The thinking is that the actual fruit pulp, seeds and peel can deliver healing powers you can’t re-create in a lab.

I know most organic stuff is way over-hyped (and not necessarily natural), but if you’ve got normal or oily skin, then you really do have to try this to believe it. The juicy, mouthwatering, limey-grapefruit scent will blow your mind, I promise. And yes, that’s REAL lime juice, which is great for your skin, too. Lime has astringent qualities that will help your pores look smaller and smoother, plus it’s high in vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties.

The texture is a gel with tiny silica beads that ever-so-gently buff away dead skin cells. Plus it contains grapefruit seed and peel (also great grease-cutters) that for me at least, eliminate the need for makeup remover as a pre-step. With all this buffing and astringent action, you’d think this product would leave your skin dry or irritated—but no. It’s extremely gentle and the shea butter extract helps leave my borderline sensitive skin hydrated and softened.

Oh, and did I mention it’s organic? (Duh.) Eminence products are handmade, without any heating or hydrogenating processes, so there are absolutely no nasties. Honestly, I could almost drink the stuff. G&T with lime, anyone?

Emminence is nice but I REALLY love Juice Beauty. My current favorite Juice Beauty Cleanser is tied between their USDA 98% organic Cleanser and their Cleansing Milk which is SOooooo rich and luxurious and removes all my makeup. Love their organic juice base but rich moisturizers and their Green Apple Peel is my fave for instant results.

Hi Rachela! Agreed – the Green Apple Peel is amazing! I’ve tried the Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk too but it’s too rich for my skin type. :-(
