Last year, even before the economy started tanking, we saw the emergence of a Roaring Twenties revival, at least style-wise. Economically, the comparison was apt, too, since the Dow Jones then promptly took a nose dive. It remains to be seen how that’s all going to play out with my bank account, but at least I can still wear my makeup like it’s 1929… er, August 2008. Think flapper-esque, think femme fatale, think Old Hollywood. If Dior’s newest collection—called “Jazzclub” and inspired by the Jazz Age— is any indication, it’s all about a smokey eye AND a bold lip. (Bonus points for any sequins or lamé on your person.)

I can’t justify paying $70 for a palette myself but these look lovely! I’ve only recently bought some Dior makeup and it is great stuff.
My HG of foundations is Diorskin Nude. Love it.
I really like the formulations of the Dior Addict lipsticks too. The ones in the fall collection look amazing.
I’m not a palette girl either – there’s lots of good eyeshadow out there that is less expensive (if not in quite as pretty packaging).
I think the smarter approach with these collections is to invest in items you can’t get at a lower price point. Example: the brow styler, which has a very fine point and comes in a hue that would look good on everyone. Or the plum eyeliner – a colour you won’t find elsewhere and again, the tip is really fine and precise.
