First look: Emilio Pucci Spring ’10

Fashion Week

Is Lily Donaldson dreamy or what? Shown here at Pucci, she’s sporting the best example of gold eyeshadow I think I’ve ever seen. AND the best hair.

(Not surprisingly, Lily was always a favourite whenever I’d have to compile the biannual fashion week beauty reports for ELLE Canada. The girl does not take a bad picture. Would’ve used her for every spread if I could.)

macpigment_goldHere, it looks like the makeup artist applied a warm, medium-brown shadow in the crease and under the lower lashes—speaking of which, have you noticed just how much brown shadow is happening next spring? I sense a trend, kids!—and then took a quite sparkly bright gold and swept it from lid to crease. You’d need to use something like M.A.C Pigment to get this effect as most golds that you find in palettes won’t have enough pigment. Of course, black liner and mascara is essential to “ground” it all.

The big surprise is the pink lip—a nice contrast, don’t you think? (Most people would do a lip in the same colour family, but a cool pink is more modern.)

And OH GOD the hair. It’s centre-parted with the kind of loose waves you get when you leave your damp hair in braids. (Well, maybe with a teensy bit more bodyI’d try a volumizing spray at the roots and blast it with a hairdryer for a few minutes to get some lift.)

It’s true, I ALWAYS want to use the photo of Lily over anyone else.

I think I’m in love with Spring 2010 beauty. Some of the prettiest, freshest, most wearable prettiness.
