Tips & Tricks

Jada Pinkett Smith

Welcome to the final instalment in my series of makeup how-tos from The Body Shop‘s Chase Aston, which I personally got to witness first hand the other week. (Definitely take a peek at Part One and Part Two, if you missed them… this is Part Three but not really because unlike the others, it’s not about brights. And I didn’t want to go back and have to change my headlines.)

Anyhoo! Today’s makeup is what you’ll want to wear to all the holiday parties. I’m confident you could do this in 10 minutes, even in the grim lighting of your office bathroom, and STILL look like a million bucks.

This demo is on a model with possibly the most gorgeous skin I’ve ever been in the same room with. Here’s her before:

And the after:

Now, here’s how you do it. (Note: these colours will work on ANY skin tone.)

bodyshop_blushtrio_warmsunsetFACE: Use a big, fluffy brush to sweep bronzer on the highest points of your face, where the sun would naturally hit. (Try The Body Shop‘s Blush Trio in Warm Sunset, which is what Chase used here.) Then, warm it up with some pinky blush on the cheeks only (Cool Dusk, the other Blush Trio palette, works nicely).

bodyshop_eyetrio_sundownglowEYES: Take the golden shade from the Eye Trio palette in Sundown Glow, and apply it all over the eyelid. Then, line the upper lash line with a metallic amber pencil. Now, here’s where it gets crazy, kids! Chase says blue mascara will make the eyes pop. And I have to say, even as a coloured mascara skeptic, it DID look good (although you won’t be able to tell from this photo).

bodyshop_lipstick_velvetwineLIPS: This lovely sheer lipstick looks dark in the tube but gorgeous on the lips—it’s Colourglide Lip Color in Velvet Wine.

That’s it! Now go forth… and catch the eye of Steve from Accounts!

That model does have gorgeous skin! The Blush Trio is fantastic. I wore it non-stop this summer and got so many compliments!

Good to know Anupa! I was impressed that it (along with the rest of the colours, actually) looked good on so many skin tones.
