Ever watched the show Look-A-Like? It's good TV—at least for me, a life-long lover of all things makeover-related. Now in its sixth season, the premise of the show is that a team of experts—a hairstylist, makeup artist, stylist and photographer—transform regular civilians into their celebrity doppelgangers. Fun, right?
Since it's filmed in Toronto, back in August I got to visit the set to see how it all goes down. And on that particular day of filming, the team was working on a Katy Perry transformation. (I'll share some pics next week.) But really... WOW. Although the entire team was (is!) talented, I've gotta say that the one person who made the BIGGEST difference in the "Before" and "After" was the eternally upbeat makeup artist Paul Venoit. Talk about talented! I left that place with a brand new appreciation for the power of makeup.
Happily, Paul was able to share some great tips on how to do classic, retro, pin-up girl makeup. So I'd like to present to you BeautyEditor.ca's very first video. How exciting! (But please don't judge—you'll notice some dodgy camera work, especially near the end, where I seemingly get VERY distracted by Paul's bare chest/necklace combo and cut off his head. Oops!)
Here he is:
