Lady Gaga’s OTT schtick has worn thin for me, so I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest fan of this cover look. But then I read these quotes from her inside the mag:
“Fashion saved my life. It was complete liberation… it made me feel powerful, ambitious and much more resilient.”
and
“We all need an image that screams, ‘I’m an individual!’ I think Jennifer Aniston is beautiful — she’s gorgeous — but I prefer to look interesting rather than pretty.”
I’ve always been in the “I want to look pretty” camp—even more so as a beauty editor—so the concept of using an outrageous fashion and beauty sense as a form of therapy, in a way, is definitely foreign to me. But this gives me a bit more of an appreciation for what’s behind those outfits!
What do you think? Do you prefer to look pretty or interesting?

I love this makeup on her but can’t stand the over-processed hair! I’d rather look pretty & fresh faced than interesting. Just adding my two cents, but I think her look is totally marketed. Although I think she’s talented, would her music have gained such popularity if she was “just another pretty face?”

Yes that hair looks like pink straw! And good point about the marketing… sadly, she probably wouldn’t be nearly as successful with regular-girl hair/makeup/clothes.
