The Look: Mid-length soft waves.
The Lowdown: Diane always looks flawless, but I'm especially loving her easy, soft waves here. (And since I'm due to get my hair cut tomorrow, I'll be officially adopting this look in less than 48 hours.) If you've got stick straight hair like I do, you'll be relieved to know that creating these waves is DEAD EASY once you get the hang of it. You actually do it with a flat iron (not a curling iron), and the best way to learn is to watch—not read—about it.
But first—prep your hair with a heat-protecting product. And consider some mousse: when Toronto makeup artist extraordinaire Michelle Rosen did my hair for the Whip It premiere in September, she told me mousse was the best product for making curls hold in straight hair. (So lose those mental images of '80s-era moussed bangs and embrace it, folks!)
Here's a little video tutorial I found on YouTube showing how to curl your hair with a flat iron. Let me know how you get on!
