People’s Choice Awards ’10: Olivia Wilde

2010 People's Choice Awards: Olivia Wilde

As I noted a few posts back, lip gloss really had its day in the ’00s—and shows no sign that it’s going out of style any time soon. But sometimes it’s nice to remember our old friend lipstick, especially lipstick that’s not red. (Doesn’t it seem like it’s either one or the other—clear gloss or bright red lipstick?)

It doesn’t have to be that way, as House star Olivia Wilde so elegantly reminded us last night. I am going gaga over this not-quite-red but not-quite-pink colour. It reminds me of a shade M.A.C used to make (maybe they still do?) called Strawberry Blonde. Time to dig that up out of the archives. It pairs beautifully with this simple makeup. (For the subtle shimmer on the lids, please try Dior’s EyeShow cream shadow in Undressed Beige… it’s one of my all-time, can’t-live-without, must-have products!)

olivia wilde was nobody special to me (make up wise) until right now. i always see her in suuuper lined smokey eyes and this is so much better! her lippie kind of makes me think of a revlon shade called daring pink. very similar from what i remember. this is totally making me want to go get it. that and the fact that revlon lipsticks are on sale at SDM for 399 tomorrow…

Agreed – I like this so much better than all that eyeliner! I hope she sticks with this look.

I’ve just hotlinked from your Golden Globes beauty comment on Olivia Wilde — you are so right about her makeup here, Michelle. This look takes her prettiness to a whole new level.

The Golden Globes sharply lined eyes with exaggerated cat-eye lashes and slashing brows make her look only steps up from porn star. (http://beautyeditor.ca/2010/01/22/2010-golden-globe-awards-olivia-wilde/)

Here her more delicate eye makeup and softer brows make her look chic, more red-carpet star.

Glad you agree, J! (Porn star eye makeup? Ouch! But true…)
