I’m on the fence about Maggie Gyllenhaal—not just her red carpet look last night, but in general. But let’s focus on last night.
Where she got it right, I think, was in the makeup department. She has the most amazing bright blue eyes, and the contrast with the berry lips really makes ‘em pop. The rest is simple: just some false lashes and a hint of blush, but nothing too OTT.
The hair, though, isn’t her best look. I’m not a huge fan of updos in general, even though I can appreciate the mad skillz that go into achieving them. Unless you’re a model or possess some FINE bone structure (see January Jones), they’re too harsh for most faces. I would have liked to see something softer on Maggie, maybe some sideswept bangs or controlled curls with some escaping tendrils.
