Burberry is launching a makeup line: is this huge news or what?
A little bird told me about this a while ago (and yes, I hear it IS coming to Canada).
Before, fragrances were our only Burberry beauty option—but now we can get our hands on a range of 96-strong collection of makeup items (wow!).
The range will include sheer foundation, blush, pressed powder, bronzer, liquid foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, lip gloss, lipstick and mascara—each with the packaging etched in the signature check design. The outer packaging, like the iconic Burberry trenchcoat, will be beige.
Here’s what Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey had to say about the launch:
“It all started because I felt that, at shows and the shoots, the whole [Burberry] attitude is epitomised through the shoes, the bags, the clothes, the accessories, but then the face was the one thing I really struggled with. When we were doing make-up, I felt like we weren’t able to get the right attitude. It was either caked-on make-up or then just the wrong colours, the wrong tones, the wrong spirit for make-up. I wanted it to be this kind of effortless elegance.”
Brit models Lily Donaldson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Nina Porter will star in a Mario Testino-shot ad campaign—all wearing trenchcoats, of course!
Confirmed: it will launch in July at Holt Renfrew in Canada. Nordstrom will be the retailer in the U.S.
