Met Ball 2010: Taylor Swift

The Costume Institute Gala—a.k.a the Met Ball—took place last night in New York. And can we just take a moment to appreciate Miss Taylor Swift (who happens to also be the newest face of CoverGirl, by the way)?

I’ve harped on Taylor before for never switching up her look. Waves? Check. Sideswept bangs? Check. Flicked-out eyeliner and rosy lips? Check and check.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen her on the red carpet in a while, but I’m TOTALLY digging her look this time.

Mostly because of the gorgeous, ethereal hair that looks like it’s been pinned under in a faux bob. Suddenly I don’t mind the curls and sideswept bangs, because this makes it all look very modern.

The red lips are also a bolder choice than usual. Maybelline New York makes a fabulous one called Very Cherry—check it out over at Beautygeeks.

My pet peeve about Taylor Swift’s hair is that it always looks too flat on top—there’s like an inch or two of flatness and then super spirally curls… it looks so strange!

You think? Wouldn’t that make it look too poufy though? I don’t know… I always hate when hairdressers give me too much volume on top. But maybe I am alone in this preference.
