Editor’s pick: Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain

Josie Maran lip and cheek stain

You guys know I love all things Josie Maran, so when I heard she was making lip stains—which have recently given lip glosses the boot in my makeup bag—I HAD to get my hands on one.

Like the Stila one I blogged about the other day, these can be used on both lips and cheeks. The difference is that while Stila’s has a brush tip (kind of like a Touche Éclat pen), Josie’s version ($25, Sephora) is like a magic marker.

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about painting my lips with a magic marker-like device that makes me feel like I’m rubbing chemicals on my lips. So how great is it that this one is free of parabens, suflates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs and triclosan? And it’s not some wimpy eco product either—the stuff really lasts. It’s available in six shades: I was sent Mambo (toasted beige that actually looks red on me), but I might scoop up Jitterbug (bright pink), Flamenco (cherry red) and Jive (coral).

And my Josie Maran shopping list keeps growing: I’ve just heard from L., beauty editor at FASHION, that her new Argan Oil SPF 40 is DIVINE.

Lipsticks with blue undertones will be more on the pink / cherry side…. whereas ones with yellow undertones will look more brownish or orange. I hope that makes sense! Sometimes the easiest thing to do is just try them on if you can before you buy!
