Gallery: Natural deodorants that don’t stink (literally)

Last night, a conversation with some fellow beauty editors inevitably turned to the topic of natural deodorants. (Yes, these are the subjects that come up after a couple glasses of wine.)

Have YOU tried a natural deo before? If so then you probably have a drawer somewhere where they go to die, half-used. (Worst offender: sticky, stinky Tom’s of Maine. I like their toothpastes though!) Anyway—what I mean to say is that unlike other beauty product categories, the natural deodorant aisle is generally full of ineffective, useless products. AMIRITE?

But I have good news.

Lavilin Underarm Deodorant CreamFirst of all, every single product in today’s gallery is part of my deodorant rotation. (OF COURSE I have a deodorant wardrobe. Don’t you?)

Now I won’t pretend that these will stop ALL odour and stink. It’s just not going to happen. Because they’re not anti-perspirants, you’re still going to get dampish pits. But unless you’re sweating profusely, these should most definitely cut down on the stink, at least for several hours. (You might need to re-apply, depending on your activity levels and how warm it is.)

And I have another theory. This is in no way scientific, but inspired by something FASHION’s beauty editor, Lesa, said last night. She mentioned that she got GREAT results from a new deodorant for a week, and then it stopped working. So *I* think that because I switch mine up all the time, my body doesn’t have time to get used to one type. As I say, not scientific but something you may want to try. Who knows?

Anyway, check out this gallery of the best deos I’ve found so far. (As I make new discoveries, I’ll update.)

I just added another one to the gallery – Alba Botanica Clear Enzyme. A Twitter follower tipped me off to it and it’s REAL good. In a stick, but not sticky… and lasts for hours.
(Although the other explanation could be that I’ve introduced something new to the rotation…. )

ooh nice post. I agree, Tom’s didn’t do squat for me. I use Herbal Clear 24 Hour Sport Deodorant (got it at Whole Foods), which works very well in comparison to Tom’s, which I used a couple of times and then promptly trashed. It smells very green and fresh (not my favorite scent, but it’ll do just fine).

I actually own a little boutique health store so it’s safe to I’ve tried them all! The only one that can keep you dry and smell free is the salt deodorant from Naturally Fresh! It’s a life changer! It’s a solid salt rock that works wonders!!!!
