Style Collective weekly round-up: No-melt makeup, frizz-fighting hair products and how to curl your hair with a flat iron

summer makeup

You know how Katy Perry sings about “sun-kissed skin so hot we’ll melt your popsicle”? Well, makeup gets all melty too (obviously). Janine has an awesome list of product recos for sweaty summer complexions. [BeautyGeeks]

And speaking of summer beauty woes, Mandy rounded up some of the best frizz-proofing hair products. Living Proof, if you haven’t tried it, is a-MAZ-ing. [ChickAdvisor]

Ever tried curling your hair with a flat iron and it got stuck? Me too. Mimi’s fantastic video tutorial explains what to do. Definitely a must-watch. Thanks Mimi! [Coco&Lowe]

I really, really want this Flip camera—and not just because it’s cute and pink. [Gifted]

And this is totally unrelated to beauty but… wouldn’t it be fab to have a girly, all-white kitchen like this one? [At Home with Kim Vallée]

I have fine hair that gets a lovely wave in it, especially when I use beach hair spray. Problem is, I have fly-aways…does anyone know a product I can use to stop these fly-away’s happening? The only way I know how to get rid of them is to blowdry my hair using a straightening balm, then use the beach spray to activate the wave…but that drives me crazy, especially in summer, as Im basically “wetting” my hair hair again with the spray! Any help appreciated!

Good timing! I’m going to do a post very soon on frizz-fighting products. These should help with the flyaways. There are a couple really good new products – one is from Avon (it’s called Lotus Shield Anti-Frizz Treatment) and if you do a google search it’s getting amazing reviews. I found it pretty impressive even on my fine, straight hair (normally “smoothing” products make my hair look greasy, but this didn’t).

There is also a line called Living Proof at Sephora and it is incredible at making hair look smoother without going flat. I’ve just been using the shampoo and conditioner and am very impressed. I think they also make a styling cream specifically for wavy hair too.

I think in combo with the beach spray one of these might help! The Living Proof is a bit pricey though so see if Sephora will give you a sample.
