5 crazy beauty products I’m totally intrigued with (think tattooed lips, glow-in-the-dark skin and more!)

Violent Lips Union Jack

Okay, so it’s well past Halloween, but that doesn’t mean the fun’s all over with your beauty routine. Lately, I’ve been seeing a ton of crazy, wacky beauty products… and it has me thinking: is over-the-top the new normal? I blame Lady Gaga, Kesha and Nicki Minaj. They’ve collectively encouraged us to experiment and try new things—which I’m all for!—but let’s be honest, certain trends just don’t work for the office. Or grocery store.

Here are five of the latest “crazy beautiful” products that have caught my attention (and not necessarily in a good way). Check them out and then let me know what you think!

Violent Lips Temporary Tattoos

Violent Lips 5 crazy beauty products Im totally intrigued with (think tattooed lips, glow in the dark skin and more!)

These temporary tattoos are applied just like those cheapy ones everyone used as a kid, except they’re designed specifically for your lips. They last up to eight hours, come in a wide range of patterns and colours (including animal prints, polka dots and high-shine glitters) and they even deliver vitamins to your lips. These will definitely make a statement at night, but I’m just not sure I really need leopard spots all over my lips.

Outrageous? Yes. Kissable pout? Absolutely not.

Paperself Eyelashes

These faux lashes are made from paper-cut patterns and are meant to resemble the art of Chinese paper-cutting. There are 11 designs in total, including peacock feathers, peach blossoms and butterflies. While a few of the patterns are actually really pretty, I think I would just be way too nervous to wear these out—think about how delicate these falsies must be!

Nails Inc. Magnetic Nail Polish

Nails Inc Magnetic Polish 5 crazy beauty products Im totally intrigued with (think tattooed lips, glow in the dark skin and more!)

Okay, so this new item is crazy—crazy good, that is. As you know, I’m obsessed with all new nail trends, and the whole crackle thing just seems so yesterday. This polish comes with a special magnet in the cap that you place over wet nails for 10 to 15 seconds, which then creates a striped pattern. This is one product I know I’m going to test out for myself!

Temporary Teeth Tattoos

It turns out nail stickers (or even lip stickers) aren’t enough. The latest thing that girls in Japan are doing is matching their nail art with temporary teeth tattoos. The tats are applied with a special glue and come off within a few days.

Rhinestones and shooting stars on my pearly whites? People would constantly be giving me that look of “you totally have food in your teeth.” So I’m going to have to pass on this one.

Make Up For Ever Fluo Night Black Light Pigment

MUFE Fluo Night 5 crazy beauty products Im totally intrigued with (think tattooed lips, glow in the dark skin and more!)

Calling all rave and club goers! This one’s for you. It’s a transparent body powder that is completely undetectable to the naked eye, but immediately glows once exposed to ultraviolet light. The bottle looks like this:

It’s supposed to blend easily on the body and face… but why, exactly, would you want to glow in the dark? Let’s keep this product to Halloween only, please.

Oh dear. Most of these things are absolutely CRAY-ZE (teeth tattoo’s? Braces are bad enough…) like the glowing powder, I mean really. Who wants to look like a radioactive experiment gone wrong? I will admit, the paper lashes have a certain GaGa allure to them. I mean, obviously you wouldn’t wear them in real LIFE, but say for a costume party or something, these would be pretty amazing! And those nails!!! This is something I can totally see taking off. And its so quick too! I know loads of my friends would go mad over this shizz (even though it is a bit pricey for a non-label polish) and hopefully it would eradicate the awful cracked nail trend. Seriously, HOW crappy chipped nails became something people would pay MONEY for is beyond me.

Huge fan, hyper-hair-colour-aware Thomas xx

The lashes are sorta reminiscent of some Shu Uemura lashes, with feathers and all types of polka dot-y, crazy-ish patterns & length. These would be the primo example of something you can only really pull off on a runway or some sort of wacky artsy gatherings. As for glow in the dark makeup.. it should only be used to create beautiful images like this one!

Not very fond of the paper eyelashes or teeth tats but would definitely try everything else listed – especially the lip tattoos – SO COOL!

Did the lip tattoo of a rainbow to see the Pride Parade this last summer. Everyone stopped me on the street, ohhing and ahhing. But outside of a fun event such as that, they really are not practical.

Love the glow in the dark make up though…agreed at the club would be super cool!

Paper eye lashes….too delicate…

Nails thing, not my deal.

First off, I absolutely love your blog. Have to agree that most of these ‘crazy beauty products’ are too crazy for a regular person’s lifestyle. I would try the fluo night pigment though, looks like a fun thing to do on an occasional night out. Already tried the magnetic nail polish- it’s really fun to apply and it dries really fast, you also don’t need to have any base color, as the instruction suggests, your regular clear base will do just fine.

Tried the nail polish in Sephora and sadly didn’t work very well. Kept the cap above my fingers for a bit and it did make a difference but not that much. The lines were also wonky and didn’t go in the same direction. Mind you, I was trying it in the store for maybe 5 minutes. Then I decided that I didn’t really like the colour anyway, they have these metallics that are a bit corny. Too bad because I do love cool nail polishes!

I actually received ‘Fluo Night’ to try from MUFE, and I DID wear it at Halloween lol – but it was awesome! I absolutely loved the effect, and if I happen to be going somewhere else where there are black lights, I would wear it again – really amazing. I posted a shot of it on my blog!

I could definitely see Fluo Night out – not on me, but I’ve seen other people creating a similar effect with highlighters which also glow in black light.

For some reason the magnetic polish falls in the same aesthetic category as this: http://thisiswhyimjason.com/wp-content/uploads/thisiswhyimjason.com/2009/08/laser-cats-300×240.jpg
