The look:
High-contrast, “distressed” nails. (By Katie Hughes for Butter London.)
The inspiration:
Modern ’80s. The collection featured sharp lines with rock prints, lucite accents and pops of sunny neon yellow rounded out by a mainly black palette.
The how-to:
1. Apply base coat.
2. Apply a black nail polish (such as Butter London 3-Free Nail Lacquer in Union Jack Black) as the base. Let dry.
3. Layer on a nude khaki (such as Butter London 3-Free Nail Lacquer in Yummy Mummy) in jagged strokes towards the bed of the nails.
4. For added dimension, matte out only the black section to create a dual-textured look. Try: Butter London Matte Finish Shine-Free Topcoat.
