Because no matter what the trends tell you, at the end of the day it’s usually better when you work with your natural hair texture. (Biggest.Lesson.Ever from my hairdresser Bill Angst.) Kate’s hair is naturally very fine and very straight—basically the opposite of the textured, wavy look that’s been in fashion for the past few years. But instead of fighting it, and trying to be someone she’s not, I love that she’s practising hair acceptance.
Many straight-haired people (myself included) never feel like wearing it straight is dressy enough. It’s too flat… it’s too boring. But this just goes to show you that if you make a neat, deliberate part (usually best on one side rather than the middle), run a flat iron through it and maybe some glossing serum, it can be real pretty.
