CND For Alexander Wang: New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2013

The look:

The inspiration:

Hair. "Mohair, angora, cashmere; anything fabulous and elegant," says designer Alexander Wang, who paired the collection's texture and layers with nails in a weather-tattered sandstone finish. The lighter, matte, contoured design gives it an urban, modern look.

The how-to:

  1. File the nails into a short, squared-off shape.
  2. Apply base coat.
  3. Dip a fan brush into CND Color in Impossibly Plush. Feather each nail horizontally from the sides toward the centre, leaving the vertical centre line hi-lit.
  4. Seal and soften the look with one coat of CND Speedey Top Coat.
  5. Once dry, buff away the shine using a CND Glossing Buffer to "take the edge off," giving the nails a natural, eroded, monochromatic look.
