Yep, her makeup, hair and nail people are all geniuses.
Olivia Wilde makeup - Rush premiere, Toronto 2013

Is Olivia Wilde looking smokin' hot lately or what? After seeing what her makeup artist Melanie Inglessis did in London, I KNEW we'd be in for good things at the Toronto premiere of Rush, which took place last night.

Also? Ever since I wrote that post, I've been Twitter- and Instagram-stalking Melanie, who is officially my new favourite makeup artist. Besides that smoky eye and red lipstick stunner, did you know that she did Rosamund Pike's bare-faced look? The woman is amazing.

Even cooler: I actually got to chat with her this morning! So let's dive right in, starting with the close-ups:

Doesn't she look kinda like a brunette, 1960s Barbie doll? I asked Melanie where she gets her inspiration from, and she told me that 99 percent of the time, it starts with the outfit. Here, Olivia was wearing a simple but chic black dress, but "we chose to give her a little retro feel to pay homage to the movie," says Melanie. “It’s such a stylized movie, and we wanted to reflect Olivia’s character, Suzy Miller."

Melanie went on to tell me about her beauty philosophy, which is to empower her clients to walk the red carpet feeling sexy and confident. "I'm trying not to have my client be overshadowed by the makeup. I'm not heavy-handed and like to keep light, glowing, breathing skin with maybe a rock 'n' roll eye or a hit of lip. It's a matter of finding the right balance to make a statement with the makeup, but still understanding the client and how she wants to present herself."

Could not agree more with that entire paragraph. Now, let's talk about what she applied here:

On her eyes, Olivia is wearing...

Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner Brightener in Carbon Cleopatra

"The double-ended black and white kajal pencil is phenomenal; the consistency is great," says Melanie.

Melanie also said she likes this mascara and keeps it in her kit.

On her lips, Olivia is wearing:

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Flashing Lights

Melanie is also a fan of Revlon's nudes: "They make great nude lip glosses and nude lipsticks. They're like the perfect nude—not too much orange or red, the perfect beige."

To get that dewy glow, Melanie used one of these:

Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights Face Illuminator

These JUST came out in Canada (but not the US yet). Melanie says, "Mixed with a little foundation, it gives a really nice, dewy look. You can also use it with moisturizer on the legs and arms, or on its own to highlight and illuminate the cheekbones and collarbones. It's really a fantastic product."

Can't wait to try these and report back!

And now let's talk about the hair. Isn't it amazing?

The woman behind it was Mara Roszak. I think the strong centre part and the volume around each side of her face (from back-brushing, I'm guessing) dresses up the beachiness throughout the ends.

Lastly, let's talk about Olivia's chic, short black nails:

These were done by Toronto's own Leanne Colley of Tips Nail Bar (she's also Revlon's nail expert) and the colour is...

Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel in Black Magic

Black is the perfect choice here—a bright colour would've distracted from the look, and I think a pinky nude nail could be a little too Barbie-like with the strong, graphic, winged eye. I love that they used a quick-dry formula—they are my fave! I've had good luck with Revlon's Stormy shade, too.
