The exact products she was wearing.
Rita Ora, BRIT Awards 2014

You guys are often skeptical when I relay the products I'm told a celeb is wearing—that is, if the makeup happens to be a) drugstore and b) from the brand said celeb represents.

As it turns out, rightly so. I've just discovered that Rita Ora, new spokesperson for Rimmel London, was NOT wearing any of their products at this week's BRIT Awards. Even though I received a press release from the Canadian PR saying as much.

I came upon this discovery innocently enough, looking for what eyeshadow Rita was wearing, since the press release only named the lipstick. Then I found this Yahoo exclusive from Rita's makeup artist, Emma Osborne, who named products from SUQQU, MAC and Hourglass—but no Rimmel London. Eeks! If I were Rita, I'd feel pretty guilty for accepting Coty's millions while not even putting their stuff on my face.

At least we can find out how to actually get this look, thanks to the power of the Internettes. The close-up awaits:

This makeup reminds me a bit of the last time we saw Rita, at the Grammy Awards, wearing purple smoky eyes with a matte pink lip. Here, the formula is very similar, except it's a green and gold eye with a nude, matte lipstick. I've gotta say, while it's nice to see Rita mixing it up these days, I do like her best with a red mouth.

To perfect her skin, makeup artist Emma used SUQQU Foundation (which won a Harper's Bazaar UK beauty award). "It has a creamy, moisturizing texture for perfect-looking skin without a powdery finish," she says.

She skipped the blush and instead used makeup artist and beauty blogger fave, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, across Rita's cheekbones, down the bridge of her nose and across her decolletage and shoulders.

To bring out the emerald jewels on Rita's Prada dress, Emma used MAC Pigments for eyeshadows, which are loose colour powders. It looks like Emerald Green could be on the outer half of the eyes:

Old Gold is at the inner corners:

And possibly Kelly Green at the middle of the eyes, both on the upper and lower lids.

Emma didn't mention it, but I believe there is also a taupe shadow for contouring around the crease. My absolute favourite shade for that is an old Giorgio Armani single eyeshadow that's now discontinued but reissued in this wicked nude Eyes to Kill palette (second from top):

If you wanted something similar to Rita's green smoky eyes, but a little more toned down, there are a couple of palettes I can recommend. Yves Saint Laurent Ombres 5 Lumières 5 Colour Harmony for Eyes in 6 Garden of Eden has similar green and yellow tones:

If you just want to stick to the greens, I like this Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Trio in Helmüt:

Emma used MAC Eye Kohl in Smolderon the waterlines all the way around; she also mixed it with the green eyeshadow to add depth to the outer corners (so you could do that instead of using the Emerald Green MAC Pigment).

As for mascara, this is Rimmel London's latest (ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara), although I doubt Rita is wearing it:

"I added black mink lashes, which are super-soft, glossy and reusable to the outer corners of her eyes," says Emma. Although they're not mink, Make Up For Ever sells these natural-looking individual false lashes:

The final touch was the nude lip... the company is saying it's Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Intense Colour Balm in 710 Drive Me Nude, with a dab of powder on top to mattify.

These are the latest lip crayons to emerge at the drugstore level, and they're amazing. I have 210 Boom Chic a Boom (hot pink) and 120 All You Need is Pink (pinky red) and can highly recommend.

So not sure why Rita wasn't wearing one.... Instead, Emma chose Hourglass Femme Nude Lip Stylo (the brand's new nude lipstick launch that I much prefer to Maybelline's Buffs) in Nude No. 1, a pale pink nude. "It has a slight pink undertone for some added warmth, which also helped bring out the green on the eyes," says Emma.

I love the uniqueness of this look—but can't help but feel duped by the brand lying about the products. You?
