I may not be a fan of the headband, but makeup-wise, Lupita is always flawless. For the Oscars, her makeup artist, Nick Barose, was inspired by "Elizabeth Taylor, if she were to go on vacation on an island. We wanted [her] to look like modern-day movie star. We focused on an airy grey eyeshadow, slightly winged out at the outer corners, with a peachy lip that’s ethereal and fresh for spring."

Here's how to recreate this look.
"I dusted Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour in No. 70 on specific areas—the forehead, under the eyes, the bridge of the nose and chin—to brighten up the complexion," says Nick. "The camera loves it when the face looks all lit up."
"We wanted the brows to be dramatic. I filled in the eyebrows using Chanel Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Noir Cendré to add a stronger shape, but it's still pretty soft," says Nick.
She's wearing liquid liner, but you don't even see it from a distance," says Nick. He used Chanel Ligne Graphique de Chanel Liquid Eyeliner in Noir.
For eyeshadow, "I used a mix of shades from the Chanel Ombres Tracées Quadra Eyeshadow in Jardin Zen palette—all good neutrals, peach, grey and black—that I blended all together for a soft, defined eye that was not too dark," says Nick. "It's a very simple eye."
He also painted Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Or Rose on the lower lash line to brighten the eyes.
A cream blush, Chanel Le Blush Crème de Chanel in Chamade, provided “a bright and pop of colour that’s almost like a watercolour,” on the apples of her cheeks and blended up toward her hair line.
Nick chose the orangey-red Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Mélodieuse for the mouth. "Not too glossy, it has more of a sheen so it’s soft and feminine, but [a] kind of bright colour that still lets your natural lip colour peek through,” says Nick.
