As a longtime Clé de Peau user—that's the $70+ cult-favourite concealer that is, I hate to say it, totally worth it—I never thought a mass brand could even come close to challenging its number-one spot. Clé de Peau is so creamy yet pigmented, it's always been my top choice for dark circles, veiny lids and anywhere else around the eyes.

This is going to sound crazy, but I've just discovered a $10 Target jobbie ($12 in the U.S.—when does that ever happen?) that I think I might like even better. For the eye area, that is (this concealer isn't for all over your face, while the Clé de Peau can be).

The product I've fallen for is Pixi's Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach:

Peach! Do you have a peach concealer in your concealer collection? If your skin is anywhere from fair to medium, then you should.

The peach pigment actually works better than a standard skin-coloured tone to counteract dark circles, which have blue or purplish undertones. So it makes your eye area look that little bit brighter and more refreshed, but imperceptibly—like you just got a great night's sleep, or came back from vacation.

And I think Pixi's full-coverage peach concealer is truly the best. Some of you will already know about it, of course, but for us Canadians, it's new-ish, since we only just got Target (and therefore Pixi) in 2013.

Inside the box is the cutest little glass pot with a mint-green lid:

And here's what the concealer itself looks like:

It's really not that peachy, and certainly not orange—and then when it's on the skin, it somehow blends right in while still correcting. I'm quite fair, and there are reports on MakeupAlley that this worked on people with even tan and olive skin tones.

The texture is fairly thick (since it's full-coverage) but not so much that it's difficult to use, and it feels weightless on the skin. I'd recommend dipping a concealer brush (like my fave 195 from MAC) into the pot instead of your fingers; that way you get a nice, evenly-blended application.

Did I mention it's also waterproof, oil-free and paraben-free? Woohoo!

I was playing around with the Correction Concentrate today and here was the result:

Okay, yes, I need powder. And I didn't apply another concealer around my nose (the Brightening Peach won't work there). But what I did do was apply the Brightening Peach all over my lids, at the inner corners and underneath the eyes. I'm pretty happy with how well-rested this made me look! And I did NOT get eight hours of sleep last night.

I think the only downside to this product is that it might be too light for complexions that are darker than a medium. If that's you, let us know in the comments if you've found a corrective concealer that you love.

PS: Pixi is launching another shade this month, called Concealing Concentrate in Adaptable Beige. Hopefully it's as great as the peach... stay tuned for my review!

PPS: The rest of the makeup I'm wearing in the photo includes Pixi H2O SkinTintTarte Colored Clay Tinted Brow Gel in Taupe, Lancôme Grandiose Mascara, Clarins 3-Dot Liner in Brown and Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stain in Miami Fever on lips and cheeks.
