Who says orange lipstick is just for summer? While the season is quickly coming to a close—sob!—it's actually the perfect time to wear this vibrant shade, since your warm, sun-kissed glow is probably still around. (Golden bronzey eyes to play it up even further are optional, of course.)
Whether you prefer softer tones—or your motto is "go bold or go home"—these are some of my favourite lip shades to suit every mood and skin tone.
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya
The lightest of the bunch, Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya is a soft, coral-infused peach. If you like a sheer wash of colour, this tinted balm is perfect! The formula is very moisturizing, and would be a great option for a subtle daytime look. Plus, it gives you enough shine so you don't need a gloss on top—bonus!
Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Mandarin Rapture
High shine and a pop of colour—we've got a winner! Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Color in Mandarin Rapture gives a gorgeous wash of orange across the lips, but because your natural lip tone still shines through, it's not as intimidating as swiping on a super-opaque lipstick. The formula also makes it easy for you to layer it up, so you can either get a slight burst of colour or a more pigmented pout.
Topshop Lipstick in Ohh La La
A step up in peachiness from the Revlon Juicy Papaya is Topshop Lipstick in Ohh La La. I love this sorbet shade and find the formula to be really comfortable. This is another great low-key option. It's opaque, sticks around on the lips and looks gorgeous if you pair it with some simple winged liner (one of my favourite looks to do with this shade). Loving this lipstick for a muted, neon coral mouth in the daytime.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Coralberry
Moving up a step or two in the direction of a bolder lip choice is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Coralberry. This is one of the first lipsticks I ever bought that I considered orangey, back when I was scared of going super-bright. It is definitely a coral shade, as the name suggests; it will also flatter many skin tones because it's not so pale that it will wash you out, nor is it so dramatic that you'll feel like a clown. A rule I usually stick to for colours that aren't as bold is to pick a formula that is more moisturizing and creamy, so this lipstick fits the bill. If your lips are naturally quite pigmented, try layering a nude lipstick underneath so that you get a truer representation of the shade.
MAC Lipstick in Morange
Last but certainly not least is my absolute favourite orange for when I'm feeling daring and bold. This lipstick is not for the faint of heart—it really grabs onto the lips! I'm talking about MAC Lipstick in Morange. Last summer, I saw a girl wearing this and I actually stopped her on the street to ask her what she was wearing. I kept the name my mental "to buy" list until I finally took the plunge and purchased it this year. If you want a true orange lip, then look no further. You will have to take your time during application so you get a more crisp look, but it's so worth it because this lipstick is beautiful. It doesn't have too strong of a yellow undertone (so it's very wearable), and the formula glides on like a dream—not drying at all! My preferred way to wear this lipstick is with super-minimal makeup on the rest of my face so the lips do all the talking.
And there you have my picks for the best orange lip colours! There's something for everyone, whether you like to wear the trend more subtly or you like to make a statement. I love these tones all year round, so what do you say—will you be wearing this hue more often?
