Canadian nail guru Rita Remark (who you might remember from Natacha's interview a while back) was the lead artist at the recent Wes Gordon Spring 2015 show at New York Fashion Week.

To complement the designer's muted colour palette, Rita created this sophisticated and subtle nail design that resembles linen against the skin. It's nail art... but it's not in-your-face nail art.

Get the Look

1. Apply Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat to clean, filed nails.

2. Once the base coat dries, apply one coat of Essie Nail Polish in Cocktails & Coconuts, followed by one coat of Essie Nail Polish in Imported Bubbly, to mimic the look of dewy skin.

3. Next, dip a striping brush into Essie Nail Polish in Blanc and remove most of the polish in order to have maximum control, and to prevent pooling.

4. To create the linen pattern, add vertical stripes of Blanc down the length of the nail, keeping the lines very thin and unevenly spaced.

5. Then, repeat the method above with horizontal Blanc stripes across the nail.

7. Finish the design by adding a thin coat of Essie Nail Polish in Allure to diffuse the brightness, followed by Essie Good To Go Top Coat.

Pro tip: Use a ridge-filling base coat to prevent your polish from streaking.
