Just when you thought Cara Delevingne couldn't get any more jaw-droppingly gorgeous... she goes and dyes her hair brown, with predictably excellent results. (Sigh. Models! Nothing is off-limits for them.)
The 22-year-old debuted her new hue in a loose side braid at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday night, looking so effortlessly cool and natural that you almost don't catch the colour change.
But as it turns out, the transition has been in the works for a while now. Here's what Cara's hair looked like just a couple weeks ago:
Notice the several inches of dark roots, and the sort of muted blonde ends? I guess we could call this sombré (soft Ombré) and bronde (brownish-blonde). (Oh, hair colour terminology... I love you.) Even still, I think this washes out her skin tone a bit.
Anyway, a few weeks before that, she was a full-blown blonde:
I die over this photo. Could stare at it for hours. The blonde looks SO good on her.
And so does the mid-brown—but I'm not as enthusiastic about the in-between shade. Which reminds me of my old rant about medium tones not being flattering. This is a perfect example!
Here's the side-by-side comparison of Cara's fall hair colour transition:
I never thought it could get better on her than the blonde... but I LOVE the brunette.
Brown is just so kind to her skin tone, and makes her blue eyes stand out—did anyone even realize she had blue eyes before? At the same time, her signature brows still pop, but with more of a seamless tonal effect.
It sure makes one think about going darker, non? And it just goes to show you—there's a movement towards natural-looking, all-one-colour hair instead of Ombré and highlighting. I couldn't be more pleased!
