Unless you’ve been relaxing somewhere sunny down south (in which case, I'm jealous), you’ve probably noticed it’s starting to get cold outside.
If you’re anything like me, this means it’s almost time to pull on your adult onesie, cook up some starchy lasagna and plant yourself in front of Netflix until the temperature gets back into the double digits.
What can I say? I’m Canadian and the winters here get COLD.
But over the years, I’ve noticed that with winter weather comes the symptoms of SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder. Lack of light can totally suck up all of your energy and make you feel like crap. We’ve all been there, right? Plus, when you're not motivated to get moving (and want to just eat comfort foods instead!), it's easy to pack on those extra winter pounds.
Already this year, I had a pretty gluttonous summer—travelling, skipping workouts and eating all kinds of bad (albeit delicious) foods. So the idea of falling into my usual winter pattern just doesn't seem right.
To help me stay motivated—and hopefully inspire some of you guys, too!—I thought it would be fun to start up a winter fitness series here on Beauty Editor.
Over the next little while, I’ll be trying out a number of different workouts and chatting with fitness experts about how to stay on track when all you really want to do is lie on the couch.
I hope you’ll follow along and add your own tips and bits of advice as I attempt to make the most of this winter. Coming up first—barre workouts!
