Q: If you have completely black hair and have never dyed it, can you do Ombré hair without bleaching the ends? Will the colour show up? I am a bit unsure as a lot of people have written that they have dyed black hair, not natural black hair. — Hiba

A: Hiba, definitely you can do Ombré on black hair, if you have never dyed your hair before.

You need to use an ashy, high-lift colour with 40 volume developer.

Apply the colour to the last three inches of the hair only. Be picky with your pieces—don’t overdo it.

Leave it on for 45 minutes in pieces of foil before rinsing out.
