Besides the iHeartRadio Music Awards, there was another celeb-studded event last weekend—the annual Kids' Choice Awards. I know some of you complained about seeing the same old faces time and time again, especially coming out of awards season... so this red carpet is for you!
Here are all the beauty looks:
Kaley is so hit and miss on the red carpet, but I think we can all agree that this time it's a hit. Hooray! I love her short hair slicked down like this, all clean and model-esque, and the pretty, fresh makeup that shows off her great skin. Her green eyes look amazing with just the curve of black liquid liner (no crazy lashes), and paired with Barbie-pink gloss and blush. I think her brows could be filled in just slightly more to even out the tadpole shape.
Jamie is wearing:
- Blush: ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Cheek in Double Dip and Hysterical (from the In Bloom Collection)
- Lipstick: ColourPop Cosmetics Cream Lippie in Sweet Thing (from the In Bloom Collection)
Another wig for Zendaya; this one is very '60s Vidal Sassoon. I'm really glad she's been toning down her makeup lately, especially her base. Here, skin looks lovely with a hint of shimmer on the cheeks, and letting the lashes be the focus. I'm pretty sure she's wearing false lashes on top AND bottom... but at least she did them better than Giuliana Rancic last year.
Zendaya is wearing:
- Foundation: Pacifica Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation
- Concealer: Pacifica Transcendent Concentrated Concealer and Pacifica Dreamlit Under Eye Brightener
- Eyeshadow: Pacifica Solar Complete Color Mineral Palette
- Mascara: Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mascara
- Lipstick: Pacifica Devocean Natural Lipstick in XOX
- Lip gloss: Pacifica Enlightened Gloss in Opal
Sarah chopped her hair, and it's pretty adorable, although I'd love to see her hair less streaky/highlighted. She switched makeup artists this time and went with Mai Quynh, so that explains the more understated makeup, centred around a stained bright fuchsia lip and rosy cheeks. Not crazy about the false lashes, but overall she looks great!
Sarah is wearing:
- Moisturizer: Kate Somerville Nourish Daily Moisturizer
- Primer: Kevyn Aucoin The Primed Skin Developer Serum for Normal to Dry Skin
- Foundation: Chanel Perfection Lumière Foundation in 40 Beige, applied with a damp Beautyblender
- Concealer: Bare Minerals Correcting Concealer in Light 2
- Blush: Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush in Pink and Dolce & Gabbana The Blush Luminous Cheek Colour in Provocative
- Eyeshadow: Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Konepito
- Mascara: Lancôme Grandiose Mascara in Black
- False lashes: Velour Lashes in Whispie Me Away
- Lipstick: NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Carthage
Oh J-Hud, I'm not sure about this mushroom-head haircut. Her off-the-face Oscars style was soooo much more flattering. At least the makeup is fairly on point: a gorge cool magenta lipstick and flirty cat eyes with a hint of shimmer. Strong colours, but she can carry them.
Last time we saw Debby, she had red hair that I wasn't crazy about. For this event, she debuted a soft, faded lavender that's super-pretty. I love the contrast of the dark brows, brown eyes and freckles against the hair and skin. The cat eyes are the only adornment she needs here.
Annnnd it's back to the high ponytail for Iggy. Too bad those curls didn't stick around longer! I find her foundation so heavy, yellow and powdery-looking... she has (what appears to be) good skin, so not sure what's going on. I'm also not understanding the brown shadow under the inner corners of her actual eyebrows. Wouldn't it be more desirable to fill in the actual brows?
Here's a breath of gorgeousness! Vanessa's styling has come a long way since her Beauty Editor debut at this same event in 2014. It's all about the contrast between her porcelain skin and dark hair, and those big brown eyes enhanced with soft shadow. She's given up the extreme false lashes, heavy eye makeup and dark lips and just let her natural beauty shine through. Really love this!
I was SURE this was Olivia Palermo, but no. It's another Olivia who looks just like her. She's got fab brows and is definitely pulling off one of the most unforgiving hairstyles, a sleek, centre-parted updo.
This is the exact same hair and makeup as Ariel wore to the iHeartRadio event, and my thoughts haven't changed. Beautiful girl, lashes not necessary and not a fan of the blue hair... but hey, she's young!
OMG, who is Dove Cameron and can I please have her skin??? It literally looks like a baby's complexion (even though she is 19). Wisely, she let it be the star here, emphasizing just the upper lashes, a bit of brow, and a soft, stained "your lips only better" mouth. I think her hair would be more modern without those Hollywood waves at the ends.
More plump teenage skin and naturally full brows (aw, this red carpet is a bit depressing!). Ryan is 16 though, and I think looks a bit too "mature" here. I'd lose the lashes and all that eye makeup and keep it more fresh.
Peyton is also 16, and call me a buzzkill but I just find the black liner a bit heavy. She does look adorable, however. The top knot is perfection and the pink gloss was the right choice with the multi-coloured dress.
Peyton is wearing:
- Primer: BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector
- Foundation: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in 120 and 125
- Mascara: L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Black
- Lipstick: Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Curvy Candy
María Gabriela de Faría
And now I'm blown away by another beauty. Could María Gabriela be any hotter? Gah! She's a bit older than some of the others here (age 22), but went a little more natural on the hair and makeup. The easy blowout, soft red lip texture, full big brows and light gold lids are all perfect. I started noticing nose hairs in the last few red carpets... oops!
Elizabeth's a cute kid (a 16-year-old kid), so why the heavy black liner and red lips? It rarely works when adults pair those two together, let alone children. More fresh, light and fun, please.
Now here's the freshness I was after! I'm nodding my head in approval at Paola's glowing skin, flushed cheeks, pink gloss and subtle cat eyes. She also has fantastic naturally arched brows.
Nice to see someone taking a bit of more risk on a red carpet—and I think this Boho look suits BC Jean quite well. She's one of those brown eyed-girls who look amazing in blonde hair, with darker brows. Yet again the cat eye makes an appearance. And lip liner. Blend that business!
I love Olivia's eyes, but darn—the false lashes strike again! I also find her brow-filling a bit too unnatural-looking. Otherwise, beautiful skin and nicely understated overall.
I just did a double take—doesn't Kira look so similar to Paola? They have the same type of arched brows, fresh skin and low-key makeup, although Kira tightlined her eyes for more drama. Beauties!
Laura is Vanessa's sister, but they obviously have such different styles. I'd love to see Laura go more Vanessa-like, and lose the spray tan/highlighted hair/drawn-on eyebrows/tightlined eyes. This feels like she's trying too hard.
All I'm gonna say is I hope G. (Genevieve) is okay, because those teeth are making me feel like something is quite wrong.
Are those eyelashes or actual caterpillars sitting on Megan's eyelids? They're probably the fuzziest, furriest things I've ever seen on a person's face. If only she'd just done a normal eye, her hot pink lips, freckles, brows and updo are all fantastic.
Audrey, I approve. This is what a normal, non-celebrity 18-year-old would look like: baby skin, bare lips and just a lil' drama with the lashes. You know how I feel about roots, but I think she basically gets away with them.
Gabrielle has skin that looks like she just stepped out of a really great facial at the spa. Trying to figure out what that dark splotch is above her eyebrow, and is it the sun's glare or does she really have grey streaks in her hair? The lashes are too much!
I love Cristine's look—long lustrous dark hair, straight brows, rosy lips and cat eyes. I'd just brush out the waves to make the hair more modern, and maybe lose a bit of length.
Hmm... I think Mandy is aging herself a bit with her styling (she's 25). The lip treatment is so goopy and JLo-like, and I feel the hair colour is too dark and cold for her skin tone.
Keltie looks fine from far away, but up close—so, so heavy. Her foundation is very mask-like, and the way she did her lips is my ultimate beauty pet peeve (or at least one of the main ones!). I think her brows could be working better for her. The higher one is an odd shape that I'd straighten out so they'd look more even.
Never in a million years would I have recognized Kelli from the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party versus this photo. Sure, she evened out her multiple hair colours, but traded them in for these witchy-looking extensions and a centre part that's doing her face shape no favours. And then there's the matter of the powdery, heavy skin texture... let's hope that's just the lighting.
Should Karina be our next before and after candidate? I swear she didn't used to look like this... did she? These lips might haunt my dreams tonight; I'm gonna assume they are mega-injected. I think if she just learned to embrace her unique features, and lost the lips, fake tan and spidery lashes, she'd have a much softer, prettier look. I mean, if you go Google Image Search her, she's had way more natural moments.
