Looking for a new lip gloss?
If you haven't tried Benefit’s Ultra Plush Lip Glosses yet, then you really, REALLY should. These beauties are the ultimate gloss-balms, a new-ish texture category that gives you the best of both worlds for shine and moisture in one swipe.
I’m a total sucker for silky-soft things—think kittens, Costco’s throw blankets and expensive sleepwear—so they were love at first swatch. I’ve actually been smitten with these for two years now (why did I wait so long to write this?!), and I keep tubes in all my pockets. That might sound like NBD, but with a 200+ lip product collection, it's a serious commitment.
So what makes this gloss great?
The formula is just the right consistency. It applies gorgeously smooth, with a sweet, fruity taste. And it leaves my lips feeling immediately hydrated, without that underlying parched feeling that often happens with regular gloss.
The geniuses at Benefit also managed to give them a non-sticky finish, so even on the windiest days (read: every day in Halifax), my hair never gets caught in my lip gloss. It is legitimately the gloss of my dreams.
Now, I’m a matte lipstick lover, so their megawatt shine took some getting used to. Handily, they are so sheer that you can easy apply without a mirror.
My only issue, as always, is with finding colours that suit my darker skin. As you'll see below, they mostly all look like clear gloss on my lips, some just a little sparklier than others.
Coralista is a sheer coral, and definitely my favourite of them all. It has an opaque texture with no shimmer, so it looks the most natural and flattering on my pigmented lips.
Hoola is a shimmering golden nude.
Rockateur is a soft rose gold.
Dandelion is a soft pearly pink.
Sugarbomb is a shimmering pinky nude.
The Bottom Line
If you’re into sheer gloss and you love having hydrated lips, you’ll never want to buy another gloss again. (Well, okay... you probably will, but these Ultra Plushes will set a whole new standard.)
