On Wednesday night, country music's answer to MTV—Country Music Television—celebrated the best in music videos by country artists. So you know what that means for red carpet beauty: big hair and false lash city.

Here are all the night's hair and makeup looks:

Brittany Snow

Brittany isn't a full-on Monet, as Cher Horowitz would say, but I do like her look better in the first shot than the close-up. Her hair is amazing these days (although perhaps a touch brassy), and the side-swept, tousled style is perfect. I just wish she'd tone down the chunky lashes, and soften the hard edge of the lip colour. The skin finish seems a bit heavy also, but perhaps that's aggravated by the lighting.

Nikki Reed

Nikki looks so good here! I love her hair like this, with the centre part and then tucked behind both ears. Notice how the tone-on-tone highlights start about halfway down, which seems to have a softening effect on her lower face. Her brows look thick, shiny and beautiful. I almost don't mind the false lashes, since they're equally lush and have a fluffy texture (although I'm sure it would be better without them).

Carrie Underwood

Getting to talk about Carrie was basically the entire point of this post. Just... why?! I don't think I've ever seen her this tanned, and it's doing her ZERO favours. The blonde hair colour and style might actually be okay with fresh, natural skin, but I'm not enjoying this current colour palette of yellow hair, deep bronze face and then heavy, heavy makeup. Plus, that nude lip gloss should be burned. Eeks!

Rumer Willis

This is more like it. Rumer seems to be taking her beauty cues from Kat Von D lately, and it's working well for her. The eye makeup is interesting but not too heavy; I love the bronze all the way around, with tons of lashes. Skin is in great condition, with just a touch of highlight and contour on the cheeks. Not crazy about pale pink lipstick lately, as you know, but I think she pulls this one off. Now, if only I could brush out those waves a bit...

Rainey Qualley

Rainey was the sleeper beauty hit of the ACM Awards earlier this year. ("Who is THAT?" we all said. Mom is Andie MacDowell, so it all starts to make sense.) Sadly, I don't have the same feels for her look this time around. The braid along with the bare face just come across too casual. Even though I'm a fan of no-makeup makeup, I think this needed a bold lip, more eyeliner or even some dramatic earrings, to make it red carpet appropriate. But hey, at least her lashes are normal.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Jenna, on the other hand, took full advantage of the country music scene's false lash love, donning these super-long, skinny numbers. Ugh. It's not that nobody should wear falsies ever; it's that these ones don't even try to look like natural lashes, which aren't all the same length from corner to corner. Otherwise, points for the dewy skin and shiny lobbed hair. She really does have striking colouring.

Laura Marano

Oh my—where did these extensions come from? I thought the world had finally, collectively decided they were over. The last time we saw Laura with her hair down, her locks were about boob-length. Now, while I'm enjoying all the waves, the length seems very dated. (I wouldn't mind if she ditched the highlights, too.) Meanwhile, her skin continues to blow me away, and I'm loving the seamless flush on her cheeks and rosy, glossy lips.

Kimberly Perry

Not bad at all, Kimberly. The woman has amazingly thick hair, and I like the zig-zaggy part (not that she has any visible roots to speak of, which is why people usually do that). I'm getting a Taylor Swift vibe from the eye makeup—i.e. the purple tones and how there's so much smokiness on the bottom lid before it goes diagonally up and out on the top. I honestly don't think I'd change anything except possibly the lashes and some blotting paper on the inner cheeks.

Danielle Bradbery

Well, I suppose we should be grateful that Danielle has yet to reach Carrie Underwood levels of skin-bronziness and lip-goopiness. She definitely seems to be following Carrie's lead on the eye makeup front, and doesn't need anywhere close to this much. I love her soft blonde hair colour and the lil' braid in the tail of her pony. Lots of potential here, folks.

Jana Kramer

And one more over-the-top one to finish! Jana has a naturally darker skin tone, so she gets more leeway on the spray tanning, but it didn't need to go quite this dark. Another horrendous pale lipstick and heavy eye makeup job. And yet, I like the hair. A lot. Just imagine how this textured side braid would look with a scrubbed-fresh face and subtly enhanced lips and eyes? It would be good. Very good. But probably not gonna happen in Nashville.
