I know I always say this, but—it was SO hard to choose a favourite beauty look from this week's celebrity red carpet appearances. Tied for me are America Ferrera's glam waves, Bryce Dallas Howard's rust shadow and Elisabeth Moss' new red hair colour.
These were the best celebrity beauty looks this week:
Has America ever looked better?! With a perfectly styled (but still touchable-looking) vintage wavy faux bob and fresh makeup, she looks glam, but not overdone. You can still see her freckles, the lipstick is sheer and the eyes have a smudgy quality—all help keep things not too serious.
Bryce Dallas Howard
Bryce continues to wear some of the best, most creative makeup looks around (see here for her previous ones). This time, it's a soft, rust-coloured eyeshadow worn high above the crease, which picks up on her hair colour in such a lovely way. The pink lips are understated, and peach cheeks give some pop. Hair is a simple blowout.
Speaking of people who've never looked better, Elisabeth is a contender as well! Last time we saw her, she was blonde, but now is rocking this very non-natural red, and I love it. Red must be her Life Colour, because it's doing great things for her skin, which is looking fresh and radiant. A slick of electric pink lipstick, jet-black upper lashes and highlighted inner corners are all she needs.
Elisabeth is wearing: Foundation // Powder // Highlighter (on cheekbones) // Eyeshadow in Lunar (to highlight inner corners of the eyes) // Eyeshadow in 202 Tissé Camélia // Mascara // Individual false lashes // Lipstick in Shocking Pink
I'm not so into her Ombré hair colour (too drastic), but it's always nice to see Katy in fresher makeup. The matte marsala lipstick is a difficult shade that actually looks perfect on her. Probably because she played everything else low-key, with just nude blush, brushed-up brows and soft mascara. Her eyes look extra-sparkly.
Emily kept things simple and understated. (Well, except for her lips. I still find them so distracting!) But I do appreciate that she doesn't pile on the fake lashes and foundation, and instead is practically bare-faced, to match her nude dress—it makes you appreciate her natural beauty so much more. I love her untamed brows, and did you spot the air-dried texture I've been talking about?
As always, Emma's beauty look is so playful and modern. She paired a bold, matte orange-red lipstick with pinky cheeks (the key is that the blush is well-blended). Taupe shadow on the lids, natural lashes and strong brows complete the makeup. Then, she added another fun touch: an undone faux bob. Perfect, as usual.
I'm not sure if Ariel's version of what Bryce Dallas Howard did—rusty-pinky shadow all the way up to the lids—quite worked. But she's just so darn pretty anyway. I think the issue is that the shadow is too close to the inner corners. But I still like the idea, and her matching coral lips and sheer blush. Even the Bambi lashes are fine by me. There's that air-dried hair again.
I'm so in love with Jaime's hair here—the soft, Sombré light brown-to-blonde colour, the brushed-out waves and the little side bang. Although her cheekbones are looking razor-sharp (post-baby weight loss?), the stained rosy lipstick is so pretty. But wait a minute... are those Giuliana Rancic-style bottom false lashes I'm seeing?? Jaime, you're better than this.
Carly Rae Jepsen
I still wish Carly would lighten up this super-harsh black hair colour, and let us see more of her pretty face instead of covering it up with the heavy, choppy bangs. She has gorgeous eyes, which are well-accented by this makeup. And the cool pink lipstick works on her (even if some of it has worn off).
Just when I thought I was over super-long hair, along comes Paris wearing long, loose, gorgeous waves. To me, they look real, not like extensions. The highlights are great, too, and you can see the same tones in her eyes. I like that her brows are totally natural, and the muted berry lips are a more wearable version of the matte marsala trend.
Well, I don't like Vanessa's false lashes, and feel her eyes would pop even without them. But her look is still pretty mesmerizing—big brown eyes, a flawless complexion, peach gloss and dark, shiny hair.
I really like how Amy styled herself here. She wore her mid-length hair half-up, with a sweep of bang across the forehead. With the little bit of texture, it looks polished but not dated. Makeup is fresh and glowy, with the focus on smudgy, shimmery liner.
I don't know if I would have recognized Stana here, compared to the last time we saw her. I think it's the heavy bangs that are aging her a bit? I also like her hair a bit shorter and a more natural eye. Don't get me wrong; she still looks beautiful—I just think she'd be even more beautiful with a simpler look, and with less makeup.
Suki's mid-length hair is looking great, and the texture is yet another example of the new air-dried trend. I also like her baby cat eyes, skinny liner and peach lipstick. It's too bad the foundation seems uneven, and there are a few stray hairs she might want to attend to.
