It's all about the eyes in this week's edition of celeb inspiration. For example: Ireland Baldwin wore bronze in a dramatic winged shape, Katharine McPhee diffused lavender all the way around her eyes, and Lily-Rose Depp went for super-chunky lashes surrounded by a soft tawny wash. Hooray for creativity!
Here are the latest celebrity beauty looks:
If you want your mind to be blown, go see what Ireland used to look like, last year. Would you ever in a million years think it was the same person?! This beautiful mid-brown hair colour with warm, tone-on-tone highlights suits her so much better, it's crazy. I also love the way it has been styled in a deep side part, with soft side bangs. But we should speak about the real star of the show, which is the bronze shadow in the sharp diagonal shape. Cool as hell! The bit of black grounds it, and the dewy-fresh skin keeps it from being too serious.
More people should wear purple eyeshadow, don't you think? Katharine makes a strong case for subtly shimmering lavender worn all along both lash lines, and in the inner corners. With no distracting eyeliner, just mascara, the effect is so modern and pretty (but not too sweet!). The pop of coral pink on her lips adds a great colour-blocking dimension. I like her hair, too, although this particular length/style has been done to death.
Lily-Rose is only 16, and it's her very first time on this blog, but already her beauty game is 100 percent on point! I love everything, from the mega-chunky lashes to the sculpted cheeks and lids in the unusual brownish-orange. The lips match, and are matte; brows are full and unplucked. Her wavy bob has the same cool-girl vibe as when Sienna Miller first cut hers.
Kerry was born to wear this orange lipstick! The shade is doing insanely great things for her skin, which is so flawless, as per usual. The spider lashes dull my enthusiasm just a bit, and I might've skipped or softened the black liner under the lower lash lines to keep this more modern. But still—a really gorgeous look from one of my beauty faves.
Bryce Dallas Howard
It looks like Bryce has lightened up her colour to more of a strawberry blonde than the red she had previously. Very nice! And even though the makeup application is a bit sharp and angular, I can't deny how beautiful she looks here. The red lipstick is striking with her skin and eye colours, and with the black liner, it gives her face a doll-like effect. I just wish the false lashes were a bit more natural, and the brows could be softer (as per here).
What I love about Amanda is that she always looks "real" on the red carpet, like a regular girl and not someone wearing a mask of makeup. This look is no exception. We have her signature smoky eye move in soft plum, and I think the falsies actually work here, without overwhelming her. Lips have a muted shine, and her skin is natural. Even the waves in her hair have an ease about them.
It has been ages since we've seen Maggie—not since the Met Ball last year. What caught my eye about this look was the eyeshadow. See how it has been applied horizontally, outside the edges of her eyes? This is a great trick to visually widen a long face. I like the pink lipstick on her as well, and don't mind the lashes, but the blush texture seems heavy/powdery.
Maggie is wearing: Foundation // Powder // Eyeshadow in Audacity in Paris // Mascara in Black // Individual lashes in Flare Short Black // Eyeliner in Santal // Blush in Coy // Blush in Dollface // Lip pencil in Ballet Blush // Lipstick in Barbara
I want to dislike this—and I do, if I only focus on the contouring, particularly on the outer half of Zendaya's temple/cheek/jawline. (WTF? It is about four shades darker than her actual skin colour, in deep caramel and plum.) But if I zoom out and take everything in as a whole, she is still quite a cutie. I love the idea of big '80s-style waves, brows and a magenta mouth, but girl just needs to ease up on the shading.
I definitely approve of what January is doing here, which is not a lot. I've always felt she looks best in either a vintagey bold lip, or else very bare and natural. (Not weird eyeliners, for example!) For some people, less is just more. Here, "less" means tightlined eyes with a bit of shimmer, clear lip gloss, fresh skin and simple waves. Cute!
Freida is so chic in classic red lipstick and softly shaded eyes—NO false lashes, which would only cheapen this. Or much blush, for that matter. Her hair is doing the new flippy thing at the top, with a great beachy texture that doesn't look obviously curled. I wonder if she could grow out her brows a bit more... that would look even better!
Hilary looks so good! I'm getting effortless VS model vibes from the way she styled herself—casual long hair, fresh skin, sexy dress. She appears to only be wearing mascara, sheer gloss and some kind of cheek stain, although it could be a natural flush. I feel this looks so much more youthful and sexy than being too "done" with perfect powdery skin and styled hair!
This is just perfect. Diane is perfect. (Joshua Jackson is one lucky guy.) I assume she did her own makeup here, as usual, choosing a lovely medium pink lipstick, well-blended blush, mascara and soft shadow. No falsies or harsh liner for her! I don't mind at all that she usually sticks to this mid-length, slightly wavy hairstyle, because it suits her so well.
Anyone else getting a bit tired of seeing Kate every week? I must confess I'm getting pixie cut fatigue, although I have no actual complaints here about the way she is styled. The lashes are the standout, along with the black liner in the waterlines. She definitely has that gamine thing going on.
OMG, Jamie's teeth! Some toothpaste company needs to snap her up right away as a spokesperson. I love this bold red lipstick for her, and the updo with the two twisty tendrils on either side is quite cute. I don't think I would have gone so heavy on the eyes, though... I think the black liner in the lower waterlines closes them off.
I'm not sure what's going on with her hair, but there is lots to like about Olivia's makeup. (Maybe if she had some smoothing serum to tame the flyaways, her pinned-to-one-side 'do would look better?) I just adore the sparkly blue liquid liner, which has a subtle cat eye shape, with black in the upper waterlines. Even better is how she wore it against completely neutral skin, cheeks and lips. I do wonder why her eyes are yellow-ish lately...
Salma always looks so vibrant and glamorous, no? I love her bouncy hair, and especially her eye makeup. She took a standard brown smoky eye, but dressed it up with gold glitter at the inner corners, and a hint of a rusty tone on the outer upper lids. Her lashes look great as well. And we know how she keeps her skin in such good shape, at age 49!
Elizabeth, on the other hand, is age 50 and a smoker. I do think that has negatively affected the condition of her skin, however, I'm appreciating all this glamour she is still bringing to the table! Her hair is gorgeous, and I think her cosmetic enhancements are pretty tasteful. She is a little bit stuck in a style rut, and would look even better with a fresh lob cut a la safety-pin dress era.
One of the most exciting things for me in this batch of photos is getting to see Victoria without her usual heavy makeup and false lashes! She is even more beautiful without the artifice, as you notice her flawless skin, delicate features and sparkling eyes. More of this, please, Victoria!
