Introducing Lily Lolo and Studio 78 Paris.
Our opinions made possible by Petal and Post
Natural makeup brands

As any natural beauty fan will attest, finding non-toxic makeup that actually performs as well as its chemical counterparts can be a major challenge.

But times are a-changin'. Lately, I've noticed the emergence of "eco-luxe" makeup brands that have such high-quality formulas, shades and packaging, you'd never even guess they were organic!

Like these recent discoveries, for example:

Natural makeup brands

All-natural makeup from Lily Lolo and Studio 78 Paris.

I'm excited to introduce you to Lily Lolo and Studio 78 Paris, two all-natural makeup lines that might not be on your radar yet, but should be!

Both are carried at online natural beauty store Petal & Post. Here's the lowdown on each brand, and the products I tried...

Lily Lolo

Lily Lolo

Natural makeup from Lily Lolo.

Lily Lolo is a British makeup brand specializing in 100 percent natural mineral makeup. Their products are free of parabens, dyes, fillers and harsh chemicals, and are suitable for all skin types, especially sensitive. They promise a light, flawless and seamless finish without clogging or irritating your skin.

Here's what I tested:

Lily Lolo BB Cream

Lily Lolo BB Cream

Lily Lolo BB Cream.

Lily Lolo BB Cream is a great option if you are looking for a natural BB with light, fresh coverage. Worn alone, it evens out your skin tone and blurs imperfections; you could also wear it mixed with or underneath a regular foundation.

There are three shades: Fair, Light and Medium. I tried Light, but I think I could get away with Fair as well. Here's the colour straight out of the tube:

Once you blend, it becomes more sheer:

Here it is on my skin:

The effect is very natural, and neither too dewy nor too matte. I also love that this is silicone-free!

Lily Lolo Corrector

Lily Lolo Corrector in Blush Away

Lily Lolo Corrector in Blush Away.

The Lily Lolo Corrector is a tinted loose mineral powder that you wear underneath your makeup to correct skin tone imperfections. There are two options: PeepO is slightly yellow to counteract dark circles and pigmentation, and Blush Away is slightly green to hide redness and blemishes.

I tried Blush Away. As you can see, the green in it is extremely subtle:

Here's my bare skin (eeks!) with Blush Away on half my face only... I'm sure you can tell which half:

I am amazed at how well this covers the red! Even without makeup on top, there's no weird green tint. I don't think you're really supposed to, but I've even worn this under cream textures without a problem.

Lily Lolo Natural Vegan Mascara

Lily Lolo Vegan Mascara

Lily Lolo Natural Vegan Mascara.

Lily Lolo Natural Vegan Mascara is an amazing natural mascara. Made with zero artificial ingredients, it is simultaneously defining, volumizing and lengthening. I love that it coats every lash in jet black:

If you build it up, the effect is even more dramatic. This is what I'm reaching for these days when I want a chunkier lash look.

Lily Lolo Natural Lipstick

Obviously, I had to try the Lily Lolo Natural Lipstick, which has a jojoba oil and vitamin E base and is fragrance-free.

There are 10 shades, and I chose Intense Crush, described as a coral pinky-peach:

Definitely a universally flattering colour, and now I want all the shades! The pigment is great and it feels super-creamy and moisturizing.

Studio 78 Paris

Studio 78 Paris

Natural makeup from Studio 78 Paris.

Studio 78 Paris is an Ecocert-certified natural makeup brand from France, created by an ex-Guerlain product manager. The focus is on luscious textures and cool, modern colour palettes—but in formulas that are safe, pure and gentle enough for sensitive skin.

Here's what I tested:

Studio 78 Paris We Oxygenize Chameleon Foundation

Studio 78 Paris We Oxygenize Chameleon Foundation

Studio 78 Paris We Oxygenize Chameleon Foundation.

Studio 78 Paris We Oxygenize Chameleon Foundation is a truly unique foundation that uses colour-matching technology to adjust to your skin tone. I would describe the coverage as medium, but buildable to full depending on how you apply it.

There are three shades. Sunny Terrace 01 is for very fair to light complexions; Weekend in Spring 02 is for light to medium complexions; and Summer Break 03 is for medium to medium-dark complexions. I tried Sunny Terrace 01. Straight out of the tube, it looks very white:

But as soon as you start blending, the colour starts to change:

Here it is on my skin with a pretty light-handed application, focused in the centre of my face:

You do need to work this foundation into your skin so it doesn't just sit on top. But once you do—wow! It gives you such a luminous glow that is perfect for evening.

Studio 78 Paris We Go Green Loose Powder Eyeshadow totally reminds me of prestige department store shadows I've tried, except here the ingredients are 99 percent natural. The pigment is absolutely gorge, and the sponge applicator is so convenient.

There are four shades. I tried Forrest Run 04, which you can see here:

Studio 78 Paris Let's Get Married Liquid Lipstick.

Last but not least, let's talk about Studio 78 Paris Let's Get Married Liquid Lipstick, made from 100 percent natural ingredients. This one comes in pen-like packaging that dispenses a creamy liquid formula with a semi-matte finish.

There are six shades, and I chose Coral Wedding 04, described as warm fresh peach with an orange undertone:

I'm crazy about this colour. It has slightly brownish undertones, making it really unique, and looks equally good straight from the tube or blotted down. It lasts for ages as well.
