This week's edition of the most inspiring beauty looks is a very gorgeous one! There's Naomie Harris carrying a bold peach on her cheeks. Léa Seydoux rocking a glossy red lip. And Ashley Benson pairing bronze eyeshadow with super-fluffy lashes. And those are just my top three...
Here are the latest celeb looks you need to see:
Naomie is so refreshing! Her elegance and good taste totally stand out compared to most celebs out there, doing weird things with their hair and makeup. This look is all about her glowing skin, accentuated by a fun pop of peach blush on each cheek. On fair skin, it might be clownish, but looks just right on Naomie's caramel complexion. (It's also nicely blended, not patchy.) The peach gloss and shimmering shadow are understated matchy touches, and once again, I need to compliment her all-natural lashes and the gorgeous highlights in her hair. This is the kind of strong, modern, naturally enhanced beauty that I'd love to see more of in celeb-land.
Oh gosh, I don't know if I can handle any more Léa right now. She is toooo beautiful! Each week's photo shocks me more than the last. I mean shocking in terms of her perfection, of course. Let it sink in for a minute that this is a mega high-res close-up, not at all retouched, and the woman does not have a single pore, wrinkle, discolouration or flaw. And she's not even on a red carpet here—she was captured on the street outside a studio! Suffice to say, I can't praise her flawless skin, cherry red lips, soft brows and tousled hair enough. It's actually a little depressing!
Here's a fun take on the colour-blocking trend. Ashley chose a shimmering bronze all the way around her eyes, up to the crease and in the waterlines. Then, she paired it with a creamy red lipstick instead of a predictable nude. I like it! I'm also not bothered by her lashes, because they are the fluffy kind, not stiff and cheap-looking. The other great touch here is her half-up top knot, with the end sticking out. I'm really impressed with her creativity lately!
Jessica has finally found her Life Look. Doesn't this suit her so much? First of all, the eyeshadow is super-cool. It's kind of a colour-blocking thing again, with soft lilac on the top lid and smudgy grey on the bottom. Black waterlines ground it and make her eyes pop; the lashes could be better but aren't a big issue. She has such a unique heart-shaped face, and the heavier eye makeup accentuates it beautifully, along with the tight, sleek, deep side part and side braid. Even the outfit is a perfect choice!
Ooh, very '60s Bardot glam! This is a nice departure from what we've been seeing from Lily on the red carpet (bare-faced or smoky eyes). I love the black liquid liner—and even the lashes—on her, with a brownish-nude instead of a pink mouth. All the Victoria's Secret Angels are doing these full brows now, which look great, and of course, the requisite shiny/wavy hair.
Olivia's makeup is getting better and better. This might be my favourite look yet! There's just something about the combo of a dark, velvety berry lipstick with a soft-matte golden complexion and big brown eyes that is so striking. Extra points for keeping the eyelids bare-ish, and the lashes nice and soft. Like Ashley Benson, she is also doing the half-up top knot.
Lucky us, we've been spoiled with so much Diane lately! She is as flawless as ever in this simple updo with slight teasing and a couple loose pieces to frame her face. The black cat eyes and pale pink lips are subtly '60s, and it looks like she made her brows even more angular to frame her face. She never makes a misstep, this one!
As you know, Amanda's beauty look doesn't really change, but I don't mind because she's such a natural beauty. I'm pretty sure this is her natural hair colour, and the texture is so healthy and bouncy. (She lopped off a bit of length recently, and it looks even fuller.) Makeup-wise, she sticks with shimmery eyeshadow and soft stained lips, but switches up the colours. This time, it's pretty purple tones on her lids paired with sheer berry lips.
Not the most exciting thing from Karlie this week, unless you're like me and get excited by good skin. Hers is very good indeed, made even more so by the expert blush-blending. Her muted pink lip colour and softly mussed updo are the finishing touches on this ethereal beauty look.
Jennifer's back on the 'Hunger Games' press circuit, and I'm SO happy to see her hair in a long bob instead of the dreadful Barbie-blonde extensions! If she is going to be blonde, then I think this length is the best. (I don't mind her hair longer if it is brown, which looks way more natural on her.) Makeup is her usual reverse smoky eye thing, with a lived-in berry lipstick. I like the stronger-than-normal makeup quite a lot with the hairstyle. She looks very sophisticated, for once!
Jennifer is wearing: 1. Concealer in 002 Beige | 2. Powder in 020 Light Beige | 3. Blush in Cocktail Peach | 4. Illuminating powder | 5. Eyeshadow in 746 Ambre Nuit | 6. Eyeshadow in 631 Blazing | 7. Mascara in 090 Black | 8. Lipstick in 434 Brun Samarcande
Told you Christina is improving her beauty game! I'm very pleased. We still have work to do on the false lashes, but everything else here is quite good. Her foundation is sheer enough to show off a few freckles on her nose, her brows aren't too obviously drawn on, lips are soft and dewy, and the gold eyeshadow at the inner corners is a nice touch. The straight, chic bob cut is also fab on her.
Last time we saw Lorde, she had a huge mane of wavy hair at the Met Ball. Now, she has chopped off quite a few inches, and is wearing it straight and slicked back. Looks good! Her makeup is also more clean and less edgy, with just a flick of skinny liner and matte bare lips. It definitely shows off her radiant complexion... I'm just not sure if the foundation is a bit too yellow, or if it's the lighting.
I know there are issues here, such as the obvious lip liner and the somewhat heavy skin texture. But I can't help it—I actually like Katy's hair all slicked-back with the purple lipstick and dangly earrings! She looks cooler, more modern, and less gimmicky than usual. Her defined lashes work in this instance, as does the sweeping black liner.
Nice to see Lily in colour! As with Léa Seydoux, the contrast of red lips against pale skin and blonde hair is amazing. I'm a huge fan of doing a bold lip with not much eye makeup or blush, which is exactly how Lily played things here. Perhaps her hair could be better... a blunt cut, root touch-up, and more even-toned blonde?
Wrapping things up is Zendaya, who I wish would wear less makeup—but just like Katy Perry, has elements that I do find interesting. Such as the giant top knot and the extra-long skinny earrings. I'm also kind of into the rusty shadow up to her brows. I guess the main problem is really her foundation/contouring/highlighting. If she could just show us her real skin, she could carry these dramatic makeup looks much better. The effect would be much more runway instead of "Instagram makeup artist."
