Q: I have very thick, slightly wavy, dark brown hair. I am trying to grow out what used to be sort of a pixie cut. My hair is at an awkward stage right now, where I don't know what to do with it. I want to grow it out, yet I know I need to get it trimmed into shape. — Eva

Eva's hair is naturally dark brown and slightly wavy.

A: Eva, your hair looks lovely as is… but as the next step in growing out your hair, I would loosen it up.

Let your waves take over with this sultry look:

I would keep growing the fringe. Also keep long layers, to allow the wave to work with you. All one length will not work with these waves.

It will be an easy transition to this next length, keeping the loftiness of your waves:

To pump up the volume and bring out your waves, you may need to use a styling cream and diffuse your hair with a blowdryer.

At a longer length, this fringe will make your eyes pop:

With this length, you may need to use a wand or curling iron. The weight of your hair won't hold your wave as well as a shorter cut.

All of that being said, I'm sure that your beauty will shine through with any style or length you choose, including a pixie cut.
