We're only a few days into 2016, but I've already got the first red carpet event of the year to show you! It's the annual Palm Springs Film Festival, and everyone looks pretty darn fabulous.
Here are the beauty looks:
Did Rooney just take your breath away? Same here! It's unreal how gorgeous she looks with her hair tight to her head, and dramatic, runway-inspired eye makeup. No wonder she does a variation on this formula so often. This is such a modern way to do a smoky eye: in a single deep purple colour, perfectly blended, and with doll-like lower lashes. Her brows and skin are insanely perfect, and I love the delicate flush on her lips and cheeks. (Who else but Kate Lee could have done this? I knew it right away!)
Celebs never smile this big, do they? It makes Cate look even more beautiful than usual. I also love her strawberry lip colour, which has an amazing face-brightening effect. She kept her eye makeup very understated, just chunky upper lashes and some champagne shimmer on the lids—both great choices for hooded eyes. As usual, her mid-length hair is styled simply, which suits her best. The only thing is, I'd tone down the blush...
Amber's black cat eyes are giving me life! They are way thicker than most, which not only makes a real statement with the makeup, but also helps widen a longer face shape. It's just too bad the false lashes had to go with the liner, as they look too heavy. I don't know what it is about Amber's skin, but it always looks sooo dewy, like she just came back from a facial. Lucky lucky! Her blush and lip colour both have that "flushed from within" look. As for her hair, I usually prefer brushed-out curls, but I can't deny the lusciousness of these waves.
Brie has really fine-tuned her style over the past year, and looks better than ever. Her hair is much more sophisticated these days, here in a sleek behind-the-ears style and a more solid hair colour. (She used to have these streaky, ashy highlights.) Other things I appreciate are her natural but chunky lashes, and the soft brown shadow—with no harsh lines. I think I would just prefer a fresher colour to the plum on her lips and cheeks. I know plum tones are "in" right now, but they always seem a bit aging on light skin.

Alicia has this wonderful girlish vibe that is such a treat to see on the red carpet (amidst all the try-hard mermaid waves, contouring, etc.). What I love here is her muted red lipstick, rosy flushed cheeks and natural warm skin. But I don't get why she wore the false lashes, which are too heavy and straight. It would also be great to see her change up her hair, as this half-up style is always her go-to. Wouldn't she look amazing in a deep side part, hair over one shoulder?
I think Kate looks nice, even if we've seen this hairstyle many times before. (She is the Jennifer Aniston of updos!) What is perhaps a little different is that she is wearing less makeup. Her eyes are super-light, with natural lashes and some black and gold liners adding definition and sparkle. The lip is a soft rose, with subtler, peachier cheeks. I think it works because her brows are so dark. And actually, I like it when celebs have the confidence to go this bare on the red carpet—it's not true that you need to pile on the makeup to have your features "stand out."
Two things you have to admire about Saoirse are that a) she's not afraid to experiment with tons of different beauty looks, and b) she is not a fan of false lashes! Alas, the gold eyeshadow is still my favourite, and worked better than this green (??) up to her crease. I just don't think she has to be that matchy with the dress—just the pink lipstick would've been sufficient. I would also love to see her brows just a tiny bit cleaner, because it looks like she doesn't touch them at all. That's a minor thing that would add tremendous polish to her look.
