Katy Perry, Elle Fanning and more.

Our first batch of hair and makeup looks from the Cannes Film Festival has arrived! The annual amfAR Gala is always a sure thing for beauty eye candy, and this year's event was no exception.

Here are the must-see looks:

Katy Perry

What I love: Katy looks so good! Sometimes I forget how stunning she is, since she's usually in "costume" (like that Met Gala weirdness). But here, she proves she can do old-fashioned glamour just as well. I love the centre-parted tight updo with the dramatic earrings and bare neckline; the red lipstick is matchy but it totally works. It's still a bit campy—which is to be expected from Katy—but even her false lashes aren't bothering me. What I'd change: Probably just getting rid of the white eyeliner in the lower rim (one of my pet peeves). Usually I want her in a lighter skin finish, but this foundation application is actually one of her best.

Elle Fanning

What I love: When do I not love Elle's makeup? It's always something new, fresh and wildly creative. This time, she's giving us shimmering rose eyeshadow (which matches her lip gloss), topped with an unexpected bright gold above each iris. Her dewy, flawless skin looks flushed and free of foundation—and that gives the makeup an effortless, "cool girl" quality. What I'd change: Maybe the updo? I'm not as crazy about it; I love when she wears her blonde down.

Karlie Kloss

What I love: Karlie's lips! I'm obsessed with that soft red and the glossy texture. She followed Katy Perry's lead with the centre-parted updo and chandelier earrings, but chose to play up her brows instead of her lashes (although yes, I see falsies at her outer edges). There's also a strong contour on each cheek, but somehow, she still looks super-fresh. What I'd change: Nothing.

Bella Hadid

What I love: Isn't it refreshing to see Bella in a ponytail? With its healthy texture and gelled roots, she looks groomed but not trying too hard. The bronzed skin also helps give her a "just from the beach" vibe—especially because she skipped heavy makeup and just did soft taupe shadow, lip gloss and lashes. The bright earrings are the one unexpected element that takes everything to the next level. What I'd change: Nothing.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

What I love: This is how Rosie does beachy. I like it better than most of her red carpet looks (although this one is still the best!) because she didn't go as muddy on the contour, and her lashes/liner are more restrained. I especially like that "your lips, only better" lipstick shade and its pressed-on texture. What I'd change: I prefer her hair with more movement, or worn up.

Mischa Barton

What I love: The last time we saw Mischa on Beauty Editor was in 2010! She still looks great, and I like this softer bronde hair colour. The volume at the top is a cool way to add height to a square or round face shape. I also like her purple smokies! In matte charcoal or brown, that eyeshadow could easily look predictable and dated—but purple with shine in the inner corners feels modern, and works better with her lighter colouring. What I'd change: The eyeshadow edges could be diffused just a little more.

Alessandra Ambrosio

What I love: We already saw Alessandra's new, shorter haircut at the Grammys. But the way she's wearing it here is even better! The natural-looking texture is insane; it's like she had it in braids and then took them out (rather than the too-perfect mermaid waves you get with a hot tool). The other impressive thing here is that she managed to overdraw her lips with gloss, in a way that doesn't look obvious. First time I've seen that! What I'd change: Nothing.

Doutzen Kroes

What I love: Doutzen is channelling Brigitte Bardot, and it's pretty adorable. I love her soft pink lipstick and black liner with baby flicks. Her eyes are like a doll's! The texture in her hair is also great. What I'd change: I'm not sure about those two skinny tendrils in the front. Is it just me or are they are a bit '90s bridal/prom?

Barbara Palvin

What I love: Eeeeeeeks! Barbara is my favourite here by a mile—could she be any more beautiful? Not only that, but her styling is bang on. Obviously, the lipstick is the standout; it's almost neon and in the pressed-on texture that is having a moment right now. I love that she wore it with just a few individual false lashes at the outer corners of her eyes. That, my friend, is how falsies should be done. Soft brows, a high ponytail and unbelievably flawless skin complete the look. What I'd change: Good grief, absolutely nothing!

Toni Garrn

What I love: Oh, to have skin like Toni's would be my absolute DREAM. The neat thing about this look is that it's all tone-on-tone, with hair matching skin matching brows matching makeup... until you get to her eyes. Then it's like, bam! The most gorgeous blue framed by a black fringe of natural lashes. I love this look, but since it centres around Toni's colouring and, er, genetics, you pretty much need to BE her to replicate it. Sob. What I'd change: Nothing.

Lais Ribeiro

What I love: If you look closely, you'll notice Lais carried her black eyeliner into each "v" of the inner corners. I love the extra definition that brings to an otherwise minimal, neutral makeup look. I like that she kept her brows soft (we really seem to be moving away from heavy brows now!) and emphasized the rounded shape of her lips with a sheer rosy nude. What I'd change: Nothing.

Izabel Goulart

What I love: Izabel's lashes may not be real, but I'm totally in love with them! They're dramatic but not too heavy, and they make this entire look. Notice that she didn't detract from them with dark eyeshadow or filled-in brows—I think that is really key. All she needs is the pale pink lipstick, a bit of beigey blush/contour and the same off-the-face hairstyle as Mischa Barton. What I'd change: Nothing.

Lara Stone

What I love: Doutzen was channelling Brigitte Bardot's style, but Lara could actually BE Bardot—a baby Bardot. It's her mouth, mostly, which she kept glossy and sheer pink. She also pulls off the über-blonde hair. Not that anyone is looking because of that dress! What I'd change: Her brow pencil is a bit too reddish.

Karolina Kurkova

What I love: Karolina usually goes for nude lips, so it's great to see her in something vibrant for a change! She kept the rest of her makeup soft, letting the bright, matte magenta speak for itself. What I'd change: Aside from the bits of lipstick on her teeth (models are just like us!), I'd change her updo. The side-swept bouffant thing seems more "socialite" than "fashion model." Something sleeker with a defined part would be good.

Vanessa Paradis

What I love: Life without Johnny Depp must be treating Vanessa very well! She looks incredible in her new lighter hair colour, lob length and root-to-tip waves. The matte pink lipstick is totally on trend, and she skipped faux lashes in favour of smudgy liner to define her lash lines. I love this SO much! What I'd change: Nothing.

Heidi Klum

What I love: I think I've said this before; even with her often questionable style choices, Heidi still always looks pretty. This is one of those questionable times, but I will say her skin looks fantastic. What I'd change: She doesn't need to go so overboard on the shimmery eyeshadow and false lashes (top and bottom). The bottom lip liner is also unnecessary.

Milla Jovovich

What I love: Milla was born for the bob. Isn't this fluffy side-parted style so incredibly chic? I also love how she does her eyes, smoking them out at the outer corners for a feline look. What I'd change: A little more skin coverage, maybe.

Uma Thurman

What I love: Uma looks a lot more like herself than she did here! In general, I prefer her less "done," but the pinky lips and blush are nice, and I always dig a side bun. What I'd change: I think she looks best with her hair down and a more natural eye. I'm also picturing a soft sweep of hair across the forehead—I think that would look nice!
