Retro waves, glossy lips and blue liner.
15 glam beauty looks

As we head into holiday party season, the latest red carpet looks have plenty of inspiration for you—from Lily Collins' inspired use of blue liner to Rita Ora's sexy, messy updo. Lots of redheads this week for some reason, and I've spotted an emerging trend... pink eyeshadow!

Let me know what you think of this week's hair and makeup ideas:

Lily Collins

What I like: Lily's shiny, tomato-red lipstick. I like that she took the risk of wearing it with smoky, shimmery brown shadow; the effect is pretty and glam, not overdone. Her skin finish is so flawless and striking against her glossy chestnut hair. Pinned back, the vintagey waves look modern. What I'd change: Nothing. (I don't know if the lashes need to be quite this dramatic, but she pulls them off.)

Lily is wearing: Volumizing mist // Dry shampoo // Pomade // Wave spray // Hairspray

What I like: Lily's baby cat eyes in shimmery teal! At least, I think they're cat eyes—they're partially obscured by her new set of bangs, which I love, and are so subtle that you only notice them when you get close. But the teal is SUCH a cool, unexpected choice with her red dress. I also like her balmy nude lips and almost undetectable blush. What I'd change: Nothing.

Amy Adams

What I like: Amy's gloriously long, straight, smooth hair. The strawberry blonde colour is too gorgeous! These sheer berry blush and lip tones are so pretty on her; I also like the shine on the lips, and the touch of champagne shimmer at the inner corners of her eyes. What I'd change: The lashes are a little heavy, and the bottom lip liner just needs to be blended.

What I like: Amy's hair again—but this time, it's styled in long, thick waves. The makeup is a bit more restrained, which makes sense with the bolder shade and cutout style of the dress. I think the lashes work better here, with clear lip gloss, peach blush and smudgy metallics around her eyes. What I'd change: Nothing.

Alexis Bledel

What I like: Rory's eyes! Okay, that's not because of any actual makeup technique—but when you have eyes this clear and bright, eyeliner and shadow are barely necessary. Still, I like the lashes and smudgy charcoal a lot, as well as the pop of matte, cool-toned fuchsia on her mouth. It makes for an interesting contrast with the warm golds of her dress and earrings. Soft waves keep it from looking too "done." What I'd change: Nothing.

Rita Ora

What I like: Rita's artfully blended eye makeup. Even though I'm not a false lash person, this eye makeup is exquisite in both the application and the unusual (coppery pink?) palette. Look at how defined her lower lashes are! I also like the pale pink lipstick, which looks lovely and soft, and the Bardot-esque hairstyle. What I'd change: The blush/contour seems a little low on the face, and too strong. I prefer a more natural brow.

Rita is wearing: Primer in 02 // Foundation in Sand // Concealer in Light/Medium // Powder in Silky Beige // Brow powder in Blonde // Eyeshadow palette // Eyeshadow in Bad Bronze // Eyeliner in Back to Blacks // Liquid liner in Black // Mascara in Black // False lashes // Contour and highlighter in Golden Sands // Lip liner in Innocent // Lipstick in First Class Nude

Ellie Bamber

What I like: Ellie's flushed pink lips and cheeks. The colour is soooo perfect and stained-looking, with a slightly dewy, healthy finish. I love her au naturel brows, and the gold shimmer shadow picks up on the same tones in her amazing red hair. What I'd change: I think she's wearing top and bottom false lashes, when a few coats of a good black mascara would do.

Cara Delevingne

What I like: Cara's rusty, smoky eyes and vampy, glossy lips. Like Lily, she did an eye and a lip, framed with her own set of thick brows. But this look feels a little more runway, thanks to the natural lashes and brushed-out, mid-length waves. Cara's hair colour is to die for! What I'd change: Nothing.

Joan Smalls

What I like: Joan's flawless, gleaming complexion (I somehow missed this look from the AMAs!). This is strobing at its finest. There's no actual shimmer, but her skin is catching the light like crazy. I also love how she did her eye makeup, with pink shadow all over the lids, black winged liner, and beautifully defined upper and lower lashes. Her hair is getting so long now! What I'd change: I think the overlined lips are a tad aggressive.

Emma Stone

What I like: Emma's matchy-matchy pink eyeshadow and lipstick. Notice how she used a darker brownish shade closer to the waterlines, which grounds the pink and defines her eyes. The darkened, brushed-up brows also help frame her face. She went easy on the blush, since there's so much colour happening everywhere else. What I'd change: Nothing.

Amber Valletta

What I like: Amber's lived-in eye makeup look. With the subtle metallic finish and natural lashes, there's a real ease about this that I love. Her skin finish is healthy, not powdery and dry. But I'm sure only ex-models can look this glam in a strict updo! What I'd change: The blush could perhaps be dialled down a fraction, and the lip liner needs blending. Does she have lip injections?

Isla Fisher

What I like: Isla's cherry red liquid lipstick. Yes, we've seen her do variations on these red lips and long waves a million times, but I still think she looks pretty great here. It doesn't seem like she's wearing much foundation, and the brows have good fans. What I'd change: I'd love to see Isla try mid-length hair; I think it would look a little fresher.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum

What I like: Jenna's jet-black tousled waves and bangs. Such a good hairstyle and colour on her! Almost always, I find dyed black hair too harsh, but this is an exception; it makes her green eyes look incredible. (And her teeth! How are they so white?) The red lipstick matches her dress and makes everything pop. What I'd change: I don't like the false lashes, and her skin finish is overly dewy. I get what she was doing with the brow pencil, but the colour is way too warm.

Christina Hendricks

What I like: Christina's soft, strawberry curls. With her ultra-fair, matte skin and rich, berry-red lipstick, she looks retro in the best way possible. If you look closely, you'll notice a dab of gold at the inner corners of her eyes, which ties in with her hair and the dress. I so appreciate that she didn't wear false lashes. What I'd change: Nothing.

Camila Alves

What I like: Camila's wavy faux bob. I feel like not enough celebs wear this kind of hairstyle lately! I'm also into the vibrant red lipstick (despite the lipstick on her teeth... stars are just like us). And she has a great set of full, straight brows. What I'd change: The false lashes have the right texture, but they're just too long and weighed down.
