Candice Swanepoel - CFDA Fashion Awards 2012

The Council of Fashion Designers of America held their annual awards gala in New York on Monday, June 4th. Biggest beauty buzz? Mary-Kate Olsen’s new hair colour (she’s brunette!). A mix of other actresses, models and of course, fashion designers were in attendance too—click through the gallery to check out the red carpet hair and makeup.

Seriously, I can see galleries anywhere – I come here for analysis! I don’t mean that in the sense of “I only come here to be entertained by snark.” I really mean that I like hearing what you have to say, good or bad, about people’s hair and makeup.

Hi Laura, I’m glad you enjoy the snark! The site is expanding from not just my personal blog but a bunch of other features including how-tos, product listings, videos, and yes, these galleries. (Which are really just meant to be for hair and makeup inspiration, not commentary.)

You can still find my usual blog in the Editor’s Blog section – that is not changing at all!

I’m shocked at how aged a few of the celebs looked here! Did they run some sort of evil camera at the red carpet here? Mandy Moore and Gretchen Mol usually radiate, but here their skin looks awful and anything but! But oh dear Lily Collins…. surely you didn’t have to impose that effect onto yourself deliberately?? She’s always someone I think is so pretty, but between the hair and that neckline it’s positively Victorian! I’m afraid the CFDA’s get more points for fashion then beauty this time around, wouldn’t you say?

@Melissa – I’m with you – pretty underwhelmed by these looks unfortunately! :(
