If you’re a country music star, then November 1st was the biggest night of the year for you. That’s when the annual Country Music Awards (CMAs) took place in Nashville, and just like you’d expect, the wardrobe was heavy on the sequins. In beauty, though, things were much more modern. With the exception of Carrie Underwood (who always does her over-the-top thing), stars like Lucy Hale, Hayden Panettiere and Taylor Swift chose more understated hair and makeup with an emphasis on standout lips, look-at-me-lashes and side-swept hair. What’s a good base eyeshadow to use if I want to do a similar look to what taylor swift has? (red lips, winged eyeliner) Is white eyeshadow better or beige? And what brand? Shimmer or matte? Thnx!

Ok, I don’t want to be mean, but overall this is one of the worst award shows as far as beauty I’ve seen in a long time. I know it’s country to have big hair and big lashes, but so many of them have just plastered on makeup and teased out bleached hair. Bleck. I also have to say the ones that aren’t blonde have gone way too dark with their hair (with the exception of Lucy Hale, who looks awesome).
I much prefer a nice natural look, minimal makeup, natural looking hair color (mine isn’t dyed so I may be partial), classic looks. Taylor overall looks good, love the hair. She is showing you can go bolder with some choices, but not looks gawd awful (cue Carrie Underwood…).
