Here’s another example (along with Jennifer Garner—sorry to keep snarking on you, Jen) of a hairstyle that ages you. Diane Kruger usually gets it right, but last night things went very, very wrong. It’s another half-mullet, with the upper part of her locks held back with a jewelled barette and the underneath part curled in what looks like ringlets.
Diane gets a pass because, after all, she used to be a model—so it’s hard to make her look BAD. (And of course I get that you need to harmonize your hair with your dress, so one might be tempted to try the Old Hollywood Hair.)
I just think it rarely works outside the pages of a magazine. Check out her fantastic (and younger, fresher) mid-length waves at the People’s Choice Awards and then come back here and tell me if I’m wrong.

Catching up on the Globes gossip today, it seems like most people loved Drew Barrymore‘s hair and makeup. Me? I miss the old Drew. The Drew that wore that crazy-ass big, blonde, bouffant, Marilyn Monroe-style hair at these same awards last year.
This, of course, is still very pretty. The side-parted updo is très elegant along with the subtle eye makup and matte pink lip. It’s just not sexy, you know? I’ve come to expect a bit of rock ‘n’ roll from Drew, so let’s hope she brings it when it counts: at the Oscars.

I’ll always have a soft spot for my beauty doppelganger Nicole Kidman. (She’s my celebrity double—I’ve always been told that I look like her, which was cool 10 years ago, but becomes less and less so as she dabbles in lip injections and Botox. Please stop, Nicole!)
Anyway—questionable dermatological procedures aside, I think she looked great last night. Particularly because I’m falling in love with this NEXT BIG HAIR TREND: the side bun. Ain’t it purty? (Once I get my hands on a good tutorial for this, I’ll post a how-to.)
She has also taken her hair back to a more flattering auburn hue, which I definitely prefer over the blonde we’ve seen in recent years. (Despite appearances, though, she’s actually a natural blonde, not a redhead.)
