Sads! Our lives are flying by and 2011 is almost over. Besides being a time for ignoring the gym, eating monstrous quantities of sugar and sporting pajamas as day-wear, this last week of the year is traditionally a time of reflection—a time to look back AND forward.
So yes, it’s almost time for our New Year’s beauty resolutions again. (Eeks! Don’t make me read that post and realize how much I fell off the wagon.) But first! It’s equally important that we pay tribute to the prodz that rocked our world in 2011. Or at least, MY world. Guys! I can’t remember a year when Christmas crept up on me like this. Anyone else feeling this way? I haven’t even STARTED my Christmas shopping, which is why my annual gift guide post(s) have been so tardy. (Apologies to you early birds out there!)
For anyone else who’s still on the hunt, this one’s for you… because even though I’m woefully unprepared for the holidays, at least the beauty companies have us covered with some seriously impressive gift sets. Seriously, they make shopping for any female on your list so much easier than having to scout out individual prodz from a bunch of different beauty counters. Do you go through beauty phases? I TOTALLY do. There was that time in 2006 when I became obsessed with winged eyeliner and wore it day in, day out… my coral lipstick moment of 2010… and now, lately, I’ve been pretty much all about a bare face. (Although I know I said I was brushing up on this, and I WILL.)
Anyway, mostly it’s because there’s just been so much going on lately (I know, I repeat myself) that I haven’t had the time for my usual beauty experimentation. I was probably influenced by these ladies too. But if I’m being brutally honest, I was also just plain ready for a nice palette cleanse. You know, after trying to replicate the Fashion Week eyeshadow-to-the-brows, and juicy red lips, and borderline-chunky mascara. Sometimes it’s cooler to dial it all back and not try so hard. Or at least that’s what I tell myself.
