Golden Globes 2012 - Zooey Deschanel

Here we go! It’s your GG beauty coverage—and my goodness, there are a lot of celebs to view and discuss! (Um, 25, to be exact.)

My overall observation? There was a lot more experimentation going on with the hair than the makeup. And of course, as is the case with every awards show, a whole bunch of celebs stuck with the can’t-go-wrong updo and nude makeup combo. It’s boring for beauty editors, but it works.

Shall we do something different this time and start with my least favourite looks first? (You know, the automatic ABORT ABORT ABORTs.) Then, we’ll talk about the mushy middle, and finally get to my favourites of the night. Let’s dig in! Keep reading »

Critics' Choice Awards 2012 - Michelle Williams

Can I squeeze in a little red carpet beauty appetizer before we get to the main course? The appetizer being the Critics’ Choice Awards, natch (they happened last Thursday), and the big, juicy, main being the Golden Globes (which, unless you’re on a no-media diet, took place last night).

It’s not fair. Keep reading »

Diane Kruger - UNICEF Ball December 2011

So hopefully you’ve hit up what’s left of the Boxing Day sales for a seksi outfit, and maybe even invested in some of my top 10 beauty products of 2011, because there’s one more thing you’ve got left to do this year… show off!

That’s right—it’s time to party like it’s 1999, and with the exception of Halloween, there is no better opportunity to push the envelope a little. (Who knows? Maybe it’ll even become a regular thing in 2012.) Whatever your go-to look happens to be—and mine is loose hair, lashes ‘n lip gloss—why not make a change just for one night?

I’m not going to tell you to embrace crazy glitter or unflattering eyeshadow and lipstick colours (obvi), but I DO have a round-up of five NYE-appropriate beauty looks stolen from the celebs. It could be as simple as tucking your waves over to one side instead of letting them hang free, or swapping your nude gloss for a bright raspberry. Come get inspired! Keep reading »
