What would I do without all the men in my life? I have this guy and this guy and this guy… and now, the newest member of the team, this guy. I like to call him Trainer George. And basically, I pay him to force me to work out—because left to my own devices, I’m a lazy b*tch who’d sell her soul to Miss Vickie’s for a lifetime supply of salt and vinegar chips.
So George helps with that. He and I have logged a lot of “quality time” together over the past couple of months… even though I sometimes hate him (like when he makes me do these awful things called side crawls). Anyway! Since I can find a beauty angle for just about everything, I thought today we’d talk about gym beauty, because even though my thighs are still a work in progress, I’ve already learned a thing or two about looking (semi-)presentable while working up a sweat. Time for a break from all the red carpet coverage—did you know that Paris Couture Week just wrapped? It’s like the little teaser enroute to the main event (Ready to Wear, which kicks off in New York next Thursday). Except with couture, everything is entirely hand-made and there is an inverse relationship between how much it costs (upwards of $25,000 per piece) and how often you can realistically wear it (I don’t know about you, but my social life just doesn’t have a role for ginormous floral headpieces).
But… surprise! The hair and makeup was a whole other story. Usually it’s a spectacle—as over-the-top attention-grabbing as the clothes—but this time around, I’d actually wear these looks, and that’s saying something. Sads! Our lives are flying by and 2011 is almost over. Besides being a time for ignoring the gym, eating monstrous quantities of sugar and sporting pajamas as day-wear, this last week of the year is traditionally a time of reflection—a time to look back AND forward.
So yes, it’s almost time for our New Year’s beauty resolutions again. (Eeks! Don’t make me read that post and realize how much I fell off the wagon.) But first! It’s equally important that we pay tribute to the prodz that rocked our world in 2011. Or at least, MY world.
