Holiday makeup collections are awesome for many reasons. First of all, the packaging is usually WAY prettier than the regular stuff you can buy. So you can totes make everyone swoon when you pull it out of your handbag or when they come over and see it sitting pretty in your bedroom. (OR, if you’re a geeky makeup collector like me, you may put it straight in the “archives” and not actually *cough* use it….)
What? You don’t archive your makeup?
Okay, moving right along. Another reason holiday collections rule is because they usually involve items you might not normally buy (like the body powder I’m going to tell you about in a sec), fun seasonal colours or amazingly well-priced palettes. Then there is the stuff of pure fantasy… like outrageously cool false lashes that could only ever work on New Year’s Eve. So fun, right? Here’s the stuff I suggest you seek out, stat! Keep reading »
Do you go through beauty phases? I TOTALLY do. There was that time in 2006 when I became obsessed with winged eyeliner and wore it day in, day out… my coral lipstick moment of 2010… and now, lately, I’ve been pretty much all about a bare face. My handbag feels like it weighs 50 pounds. That’s because I tend to lug around about 30 different beauty products at any given time (and a good 40 percent of them are probably various lip glosses, balms, stains and lipsticks). Despite this, when a beauty emergency inevitably strikes—like my nail polish chips or my eyeshadow disappears—I have just the thing that will help! Except that it’s at home.
See, it’s all in the preparation. I’m not bad now at packing for the airplane, but after chatting with my fellow beauty editor friend Kristen Vinakmens, I see the need for a handbag beauty overhaul. There are so many good prodz out there that I haven’t been using! I hit up KV (she’s worked at ELLE Canada, FLARE and Glow) for some tips on fast-fix, double-duty, 2- and 3-in-1 products. Listen and learn! Keep reading »
