Emma Stone - Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2011

Okay, I may not have been kind with coverage of our last red carpet event. But either I am in a better mood today or the stars at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards last night really did pull it together beauty-wise.

It was a very A-list affair, with attendees like the Jennifers (Aniston and Lopez) and a Jessica (Alba), plus Kerry Washington and my beauty crush Emma Stone. Somehow Lea Michele snuck into the party (one of these things is not like the others), but surprisingly she had one of my favourite beauty looks of the night! Come check ‘em all out… Keep reading »

Elizabeth Olsen - ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute 2011

We all know awards season in Hollywood runs January through March—but is it really realistic to expect celebs to go the rest of the year without celebrating themselves? Of course not, which is why ELLE magazine is only too happy to accommodate with its annual Women in Hollywood tribute in L.A. They’ve been doing this event for 18 years, apparently, and it’s a nice little bridge to get us through until the People’s Choice Awards roll around in early ’12.

Anyway, mostly I would like to pay my own tribute to Elizabeth Olsen, who I think has replaced Olivia Wilde, and maybe even Emma Stone before her (!), as the new object of my beauty affection. But let’s take a look at everyone’s hair and makeup choices… Keep reading »

Anne Hathaway Rio LA Premiere

I have a thing for glasses. (Especially, as anyone who knows me will attest, on the male population.) For women, they can be equally adorable—but as a glasses-wearer myself, I know all too well the beauty challenges of trying to “dress them up” when you want to wear something other than pajamas and lip balm. And then there is the not insignificant fact that you are unable to actually see, which further complicates the matter of makeup application.

Reader Melissa knows exactly what I’m talking about. She writes:

When I have contacts on life is great makeup-wise, but what to do about my makeup when I have my glasses on? They just seem to be a distraction from my eyes, and a huge off-balance to my face as a whole with proportions… I don’t really know what to do with my face — in fact I skip doing anything with my eyes entirely when my glasses are on.

Now, I know the temptation to throw in the beauty towel is great—but with the help of Anne Hathaway and a few other celebs, I’ve assembled some glasses guidelines for my fellow four-eyes: Keep reading »
