Is it just me or is, like, every celebrity wearing her hair in a bob, or at least a lob (long bob), lately? If I think back to my magazine beauty editor days, I know they both had their moments through the mid- to late-’00s, starting with Katie Holmes and Rihanna going for the chop, and then the whole lob thing started by Gwyneth (who then passed the torch to Olivia Palermo).
I know, it’s hard to keep up. (Although if you recall, I did alert you to this whole development last year.) So what’s changed? But that’s why this year’s AMAs were a pleasing mix of beauty looks: there was the experimental, the classic and the just plain gorgeous. Let’s review! Keep reading »
We all know awards season in Hollywood runs January through March—but is it really realistic to expect celebs to go the rest of the year without celebrating themselves? Of course not, which is why ELLE magazine is only too happy to accommodate with its annual Women in Hollywood tribute in L.A. They’ve been doing this event for 18 years, apparently, and it’s a nice little bridge to get us through until the People’s Choice Awards roll around in early ’12.
If Fashion Week isn’t really your thing and you’ve been hankering for a good celebrity beauty-fest, then you’ll want to dive into this one. It was pretty much all A-list, and even brought out a few faces—Freida Pinto, Katherine Heigl, Naomi Watts—that we really don’t get to see that often. (Some may argue that in the case of Katherine Heigl, that’s a good thing. But I digress.) Anyway, mostly I would like to pay my own tribute to Elizabeth Olsen, who I think has replaced Olivia Wilde, and maybe even Emma Stone before her (!), as the new object of my beauty affection. But let’s take a look at everyone’s hair and makeup choices… Keep reading »
